Thanksgiving Kicks

A look back at some NFL holiday kicking over the years:

Thanksgiving 2013: in Baltimore's 22-20 win over Pittsburgh, Ravens kicker Justin Tucker accounted for 16 of their points - with an extra point and field goals of 43, 34, 38, 45 and 48 yards.

Thanksgiving 2012: the Houston-Detroit game went in to overtime, where Texans kicker Shayne Graham missed a 51 yard attempt wide left and Lions kicker Jason Hanson hit the upright on a 47 yard attempt. The Texans eventually won 34-31 when Graham connected from 32 yards.

Thanksgiving 2011: rookie Dan Bailey hit a 28 yard field goal with three seconds remaining to lift Dallas to a 20-19 win over Miami. Shayne Graham made four field goals for the Dolphins.

Thanksgiving 2005: Jason Elam kicked a 24 yard FG in overtime to give Denver a 24-21 win over Dallas. Billy Cundiff missed a potential go-ahead 34 yard attempt in the fourth quarter.

Thanksgiving 1998: Jason Hanson hit a 42 yard FG in overtime giving Detroit a 19-16 victory over Pittsburgh. Hanson had four FGs in the game, while the Steelers' Norm Johnson had three.

Thanksgiving 1993: The holiday kick(s) that still get the most attention are Pete Stoyanovich's two game winning attempts at the end of the snowy Miami at Dallas matchup. His first attempt from 41 yards out was blocked, however Cowboys' defender Leon Lett tried to recover the ball, fumbled it, and the Dolphins recovered it. Stoyanovich's second attempt - this time from only 19 yards out - was good, giving Miami a 16-14 win.

Thanksgiving 1989: Eddie Murray's 35 yard FG in the third quarter provided the final margin of victory in Detroit's 13-10 win over Cleveland.

Thanksgiving 1984: Dallas beat New England 20-17 on Rafael Septien's 23 yard fourth quarter field goal.

Thanksgiving 1964: The planets were apparently in alignment that day as both games, one in the NFL and one in the AFL, each ended in a 27-24 score and both were decided by a fourth quarter field goal. Roger LeClerc's 17 yarder gave Chicago the win over Detroit, and Pete Gogolak's 33 yarder gave Buffalo the win over San Diego.
