Big Kickers on Campus, 2010 week 1

A summary of notable kicking during the first week of the 2010 college football season:

Senior kicker Joe Phillips made a 21 yard FG in overtime to give Utah a 27-24 win over 15th ranked Pittsburgh.

Rather than waiting until the end of the game, junior kicker Herb Glass kicked the game winning 21 yard FG with 7:44 remaining in the first quarter in Albany's 3-0 shutout of Maine.

Sophomore kicker Brandon McManus hit a 43 yard FG with three seconds remaining to give Temple a 25-24 lead over Villanova for the Mayor's Cup. The Owls tacked a fumble return TD onto the score on the final play.

Junior kicker Michael Taylor made a 34 yard FG with four seconds left to give Troy a 30-27
win over Bowling Green.

Sophomore kicker Daniel Anderson made a 42 yard FG as time expired to give Valdosta State a 25-22 win over Wingate.

Senior kicker Nico Grasu hit a 56 yard FG during Washington State's 81-29 loss to Oklahoma State.

Junior kicker Ryan Jastram's FGs of 44 and 32 yards gave North Dakota State a 6-3 win over Kansas.

Sophomore kicker Brendan Deasy's 22 yard FG in the third quarter was the game winner in Salve Regina's 6-3 win over Worcester Polytechnic Institute.

Freshman kicker Billy Castor's 27 yard FG in the second quarter was the only score in McDaniel's 3-0 shutout of Juniata College.

Senior kicker Jake Hilton made a 27 yard FG goal with two seconds remaining to give Westminster a 20-17 win over Rhodes.

Senior kicker Matt Szymanski hit a 61 yard FG in SMU's 35-27 loss to Texas Tech.

UCLA senior Kai Forbath was questionable for this week's game due to a groin injury, however he played and made FGs of 44, 42 and 35, raising his streak of consecutive successful kick from under 50 yards to 40 in a row.
