NFL Week Ten: Assorted Kicking Tidbits & Milestones


Denver kicker Matt Prater's 53 yarder against Carolina extended his NFL record percentage on field goals of 50+ yards to 78.9% (15 of 19).

Minnesota kicker Blair Walsh set a new Vikings season record by hitting his 41st touchback against the Bears, surpassing Mitch Berger's total of 40 from the 1998 season. Walsh is currently on pace to make 37 field goals this year. The Vikings season record of 35 field goals was also set in 1998, by Gary Anderson.

San Francisco kicker David Akers is seeing fewer "short range" field goal attempts this year. The 49ers' offense is scoring touchdowns on 61.5% of their trips into the redzone in 2012, compared to 40.7% in 2011. Consequently, Akers field goal attempts under 40 yards have dropped from 2.1 per game last year to 0.9 per game this year.
