Draft Preview: Casey Barth

Among the kickers eligible for this year's NFL draft, or signing as an undrafted free agent thereafter, is North Carolina's Casey Barth. He ranks in the top ten in the majority of the various draft rankings.

2012 Senior Season
  • School record holder for consecutive extra points made and career field goals made
  • Made a pair of field goals at Wake Forest to become the school record holder for career field goals 
2011 Medical Redshirt
  • Limited to three games due to an injured groin and received a medical hardship waiver from the Atlantic Coast Conference
2010 Junior Season
  • Earned honorable mention All-ACC honors
  • Finished the regular season with a 62.5-yard average on kickoffs with three touchbacks
  • Booted the game-tying and game-winning field goals vs. Tennessee in the Music City Bowl. Kicked a 39-yarder as time expired to send the game into overtime and made a 23-yarder in the second overtime to win Carolina’s first bowl game under Butch Davis.
  •  Made a season-best four field goals, including a career-long 49-yarder, against NC State
2009 Sophomore Season
  • Earned second-team All-ACC honors
  • Tied the UNC single-season record for field goals made set by Clint Gwaltney in 1990
  • Kicked the game-tying and game-winning field goals in the fourth quarter of Carolina’s 20-17 win at No. 14 Virginia Tech. Made a 19-yarder to tie the game and a 21-yarder as time expired to win the contest. The winning kick came nearly five years to the day of his brother’s 42-yard game-winning field goal as time expired vs. Miami in 2004.
  • Placed on scholarship in Spring ‘09 after playing his first semester as a walk-on
2008 Freshman Season
  • Walk-on who took over the place-kicking duties prior to the Connecticut game
  • Scored a season-high 11 points in UNC’s 29-24 win over Notre Dame and tied a UNC freshman single-game mark with three field goals
High School
  • Ranked among the top 25 kickers in the country by and
  • Converted 64-of-65 extra points and 14-of-18 field goals with a long of 52 yards as a senior
  • Also averaged 42.1 yards per punt with a long of 57 yards and placed 22 of his 37 attempts inside the 20-yard line
  • Of his 90 kickoffs, 49 landed in the end zone for touchbacks
  • Named to the Associated Press’s All-State Football Team at kicker as a junior after accumulating 98 total points. Converted 77-of-79 extra points and 7-of-9 field goals with a long of 50 yards.

College Stats:
2012: 15 of 19 (78.9%) FGs; 44 of 44 PATs; 89 points
2011: 1 of 1 (100%) FGs; 11 of 11 PATs; 14 points
2010: 19 of 22 (86.4%) FGs; 38 of 38 PATs; 95 points
2009: 21 of 25 (84.0%) FGs; 34 of 35 PATs; 97 points
2008: 10 of 15 (66.7%) FGs; 33 of 33 PATs; 63 points

Back in January, Casey discussed his preparations for hopefully continuing his kicking career:
“I feel like I have the ability to kick at the next level. There are just a few things I need to work on right now. After the camp, I’ll stay in Tampa and work out with [Tampa Bay Buccaneers kicker a.k.a. my brother] Connor and a personal trainer to try and improve my strength, conditioning and things like that.”
