Boise State Broncos 2013 Specialists

Our summer tour of FBS schools looks at the specialists for the Boise State Broncos.

Kicker: Dan Goodale, junior (Boise, ID / Timberline HS)
2012: Appeared in the final four games of the season as a kickoff specialist...kicked off 22 times, averaging 54.3 yards per kickoff...four touchbacks.
2011: Boise State's primary kicker appeared in 11 games during the regular season...was 3-of-5 on field goals, converting from 25, 31 and 32 yards...was 50-of-56 on PATs
"To be sure, Bronco placekicking was conservative last season, when senior Michael Frisina wrested away the starting job from junior Dan Goodale and subsequently did everything asked of him, including the game-winning field goal that beat Washington in the MAACO Bowl Las Vegas last December. Now Goodale is trying to win back the spot he had for most of the 2011 season, competing with junior college transfer Tyler Rausa. Coach Chris Petersen says the placekicking post is essentially a dead heat going into Saturday’s spring game. 'The important thing is to find one guy who can get it done for us when it really matters, when the pressure’s on him,' Petersen said."
Kicker: Tyler Rausa, sophomore (Murrieta, CA / Riverside CC)
Riverside Community College 2012: Converted 15-of-20 (.750) field goals with a long of 48 yards, and was 52-of-53 on PATs in his lone season...earned all-conference honors.
“I think he’s got a big chance. I’ll tell you one thing that’s nice about him, he’s kicked at the college level so there’s no tee involved. That makes a difference right there. … He’s shown to be a pressure kicker. He’s played some college ball. He’ll be great to have in the mix.” - Coach Chris Petersen
Punter: Trevor Harman (Beaverton, OR / Southridge HS)
2012: Broncos' starting punter and primary kickoff specialist appeared in each of the team's 13 games...punted 42 times for 1,731 yards...42.21 yards per punt is the sixth-highest single-season average in school history...recorded 11 punts of 50-plus yards, including a season long of 60 yards against Hawaii ...downed eight punts inside the 20-yard line
Punter: Sean Wale, freshman (La Habra, CA / La Habra HS)
"This offseason I'm just really focusing on a few things. I'm just trying to get bigger and stronger, get more flexible, and also improve in all three aspects of my game (kicking, punting, kickoff)."
Long snapper: Kevin Keane, junior (Moorpark, CA / Ohio Wesleyan)
2012: Reserve long snapper made four appearances in his debut season with the Broncos...handled long snapping duties against Michigan State, San Diego State, Hawaii and Washington (in the MAACO Bowl Las Vegas).
Ohio Wesleyan 2011: Started three games at center for head coach Mike Halloway before suffering a season-ending injury.
