Boston College Eagles 2013 Specialists

Our summer tour of FBS schools looks at the specialists for the Boston College Eagles.

Kicker: Nate Freese, senior (Strongsville, OH / Strongesville HS)
The returning starter kicked field goals of 36, 32, and 29 yards and an extra point in the Spring scrimmage.
He has connected on 50-of-61 career field goal attempts (82.0 conversion percentage) ... ranks fifth on the school's career scoring list (224 points)
In 2011, prior to his sophomore season, Freese made the Lou Groza Award preseason watch list.
Kicker: Joey Launceford, sophomore (Seattle, WA / O'Dea)
2012: Did not participate in any games ... earned Athletic Director's Award for Academic Achievement honors.
2011: Redshirted.
High School: Earned Metro All-League second-team honors as a junior and senior kicker at O'Dea High School ... also starred on the Irish soccer team, gaining All-League honors three times.
Kicker: Jake Wilhelm, freshman (Amherst, OH / St. Edward)
Wilhelm is an Ohioan from the city of Amherst, about 35 miles outside of Cleveland. He kicked previously for St. Edward High School, where in 2011, he went 11-for-13 and 41-for-42 on extra point attempts. His team, the Eagles, scored a lot of points so his services were rarely needed on the field goal front. In 2011’s opening game, Wilhelm connected on the game-winner in overtime. Wilhelm has also kicked for championship teams, as St. Edward’s won the state championship in his junior year of 2010.
Punter: Alex Howell, sophomore (Florence, SC / West Florence HS)
Howell is the frontrunner to replace Gerald Levano who graduated.
"I have been working out day by day. I have also been training with Coach Mike McCabe from One on One Kicking. My goals for the summer and season are the same as my team. We have a vision of becoming a great team once again, but it all starts with the first game. The new coaching staff, under head coach Steve Addazio, is leading us in an unimaginable way to win again."
Long Snapper: Leonard Skubal, freshman (Boca Raton, FL / St. Thomas Aquinas)
Several younger players will vie to replace graduated snapper Sean Flaherty.
2012: Redshirted.
High School: Earned All-Broward County honorable mention as a senior linebacker and long snapper
Long Snapper: Michael Fischer, freshman (Wellesley, MA / St. Sebastian's)
Joined the team as a recruited walk-on in early September 2012 ... served as a valuable member of the scout team.
High School: Earned All-Independent School honorable mention honors as a senior guard and long snapper at St. Sebastian's
Long Snapper / linebacker: A.J. Caruso, freshman (West Allenhurst, NJ / Ocean Township)
2012: Redshirted ... earned the Athletics Director's Award for Academic Achievement.
High School: Earned the George Conte Award for leadership as a senior tight end at Ocean Township High School
