CFL Specialists 2013 - one kicker, one punter & one snapper

The 2103 CFL regular season kicks off tonight

We recently spoke with several players regarding the recent offseason and training camp, as well as looking ahead to the upcoming year.

Kevin Scott:
Hamilton Tiger-Cats long snapper
"My goals for the upcoming season are to continue to improve every year that I play. I want to become more consistent and a better down field tackler. It doesn't matter what I have done in the previous year. The day you stop improving is the day you don't have a job. There is always someone trying to take your spot on the team.

I'm excited about this upcoming season as the team has a lot of confidence and a lot of promise. We had a strong preseason and we are looking to continue that success in the regular season starting Friday."
Billy Pavlopoulos: Winnipeg Blue Bombers practice squad punter
"I've been put on practice roster which I'm very happy to be given that opportunity and learn from [Mike] Renaud and [Justin] Palardy. My biggest goal over 2012 was to make sure I was out working all my competition that was able to play in the season. I hoped my hard work would land me an opportunity to be looked at. This turned my suspension into a positive and I went and worked with Gary Zauner and Adam Tanalski to improve my technique. I was fortunate that Duane Ford spoke so highly of me and it made things much easier. I plan now to just get better and more familiar with game speed and hopefully can succeed in this league."
Brett Lauther: Hamilton Tiger-Cats kicker, 9-game injured list
"My offseason I put in a lot of work with Winnipeg Blue Bombers kicker Justin Palardy. He's from the same hometown as me and we went to the same high school and college, so we get together every year to put work in. Other then that I was just in the gym a lot preparing for e-camp and the training camps. Preseason here in Hamilton has been a ton of fun. At the next level it's been a lot of competition every day and we had five kickers at camp. I feel like I held my own with the two veteran all stars here and they both are great guys and helped me a lot. The preseason games were good too. I had a half vs. Montreal and a quarter vs. Winnipeg and I feel like for my first time up here I did well, but still have a lot of work to go. As for goals after being up here I definitely want to keep working hard with the pros and become a starting kicker for sure. I feel like I have the leg just need to stick with it and make the most of my chances."
