Georgia Bulldogs 2013 Specialists

Our summer tour of FBS schools looks at the specialists for the Georgia Bulldogs.

9/2/13 kicking update:
"Georgia head coach Mark Richt announced on his radio show Monday that Morgan, the team’s sophomore place-kicker, would be suspended for the second straight game. A caller on his radio show asked if they’d be seeing more of Patrick Beless, who handled the kicking duties on Saturday, and that’s when Richt broke the news.... Morgan was arrested for boating under the influence this summer, which is not addressed in the Georgia's student-athlete discipline policy. The policy calls for a two-game suspension for anybody with a DUI, but apparently Richt didn’t see much discrepancy between the two offenses. Beless is expected to continue the kicking duties in week two after going five-for-five on extra points. Beless’ only chance at a field goal attempt never came to fruition due to a botched snap."

"During the offseason, our focus has been on increasing flexibility, as well as explosiveness. "This off season has been very important for our Specialists. We have been getting together as much as possible trying to get our "snap to kick" times down to perfection. For me personally, I have lost about 18 lbs and have been working on my agility for punt coverage. Also I am trying to earn a starting position and keep it. We all know that it is an open competition and that the best athlete will play. We are all very excited for this upcoming season and we will do whatever it takes to be the best in the country as a specialist unit."
Long snapper: Wright Gazaway, junior (Buford, GA / Buford HS)

"I've just been lifting, and running a lot. I've been working on core to improve snap times and be more consistent. Just trying to get in shape and help contribute to chance at a SEC and National Championship."
