Georgia State Panthers 2013 Specialists

Our summer tour of FBS schools looks at the specialists for the Georgia State Panthers.

Kicker: Wil Lutz, sophomore (Newnan, GA / Northgate HS)
Starting placekicker who was one of six true freshmen to see action in 2012 after joining the program as a walk-on. Handled kickoffs all season and took over the placekicking duties after four games.
Blue-White Spring Scrimmage: nailed field goals of 35 and 40 yards during the live scrimmage session. He also made five of seven during the field goal drill.
"It's been a great off season so far. I've been running and working out with the team to try and get my legs a little stronger. Mainly focusing on leg speed while working out. And of course kicking as much as possible which is normally two to three times a week, which will pick up as the season gets closer. Kicking wise over the summer I'm trying to focus on getting the ball up quicker and better hang on my kickoffs. My goals for the season are 100% PATS 85% FGS and 15-20 TBs averaging 63 yards a kick. Looking forward to the experience of playing at Alabama and West Virginia, hopefully I can hit a few kicks and make it memorable. Hopefully the season goes well!"
Punter: Matt Hubbard, junior (Peachtree City, GA / Starr's Mill HS)
All-conference punter with a career average of 42.6 yards per punt in two seasons as the starter ... Joined the program as a walk-on in the summer of 2011 and then earned a scholarship for 2012.
"In the beginning of the summer I worked very little in the weight room and a whole bunch on the field kicking. Second half of summer I have been working as hard as possible in the weight room and doing everything that the line backers and tight ends do just to be stronger. My goal is to place in the top 5 in the FBS for punting average. And if I work hard enough beat my own personal and NCAA record that was not recorded and get it recorded by doing it again."
Punter/kicker: David Miller, junior (Hinesville, GA / Bradwell Institute)
Backup punter and placekicker who earned a letter in 2012 as the holder on field goals and extra points.
Long snapper: Scott McQueen, senior (Buford, GA / North Gwinnett HS)
Three-year letterwinner as Georgia State's long-snapper ... Has been the long-snapper on every field goal and extra point attempt during GSU's first three seasons ... Added punt duties in 2012 and was credited with one tackle on punt coverage ... Named the team's special teams captain for 2012.
Long snapper: Justin Forrister, freshman (Douglasville, GA / South Pawlding HS)
Joined the program as a walk-on for the fall of 2012.
"Our team has worked extremely hard this offseason in the weight room and on the field and we can't wait to make the move into the FBS this season and hopefully surprise a lot of people with all of the hard work and dedication we've put in."
