Louisiana Tech Bulldogs 2013 Specialists


Our summer tour of FBS schools looks at the specialists for the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs.

Kicker: Jonathan Barnes, freshman (Baton Rouge, LA / Woodlawn HS)
The true freshman will take over the kicking job which is open following the graduation of Matt Nelson.

"This offseason I have been lifting weights, running, and kicking almost everyday to get ready for the start of our season at NC State. I'm really excited to be apart of the bulldog family an I'm excited to be a part of the coming up season."

High School: Lettered in football, soccer and golf ... Received all-district honors all four years in football ... Set his high school's career field goal record ... Was also an all-district and all-metro soccer honoree.
Punter/kicker: Logan McPherson, freshman (Fort payne, AL / Fort Payne HS)
The true freshman will take over the punting job which is open following the graduation of Ryan Allen.
"In this offseason Jonathan and I were at school in June training together and working with each other constantly. Through this month, however, I've been in Pensacola with Mike McCabe, my kicking coach. We've been training for three weeks with a lot of other collegiate kickers, punters, and snappers. Tucker Ethridge, the grey shirted snapper to LA Tech is also here training. And my plans as far as the season goes is just to step into my role as the starting punter and kickoff job and perform to my top ability. I mean, I'm stepping into the shoes of Ryan Allen, very big ones to fill."
High School: Earned three letters in football and soccer and two letters in cross country ... A first team all-state honoree his senior year and all-state honorable mention honoree his sophomore and junior years ... Averaged 40 yards per punt and set a new high school record with a 57-yard field goal ... Graduated high school holding all of the kicking records at Fort Payne
Long snapper: Josh Cuthbert, senior (Belle Glades, FL / Glades Day School)
2012: Played in all 12 games as the team's deep snapper ... Named Academic All-WAC ... Did not have a bad snap on the year
2011: Appeared in 11 games despite tearing ACL at Mississippi State (9/24) ... Voted team's Most Inspirational Player
2010: Played in all 12 games as the team's deep snapper ... Did not record a bad snap during the season
"This off season has been spent working out with the new strength staff, and working with the new kicker and punter.
This upcoming season I want to set a good example for these freshmen specialist and help lead them to a conference championship."
Long snapper: Darrell Travis, freshman (McKinney, TX / McKinney North HS)
2012: Redshirted 2012 season, did not play ... Member of the scout squad
Long snapper: Tucker Etheridge, freshman  (Roswell, GA / Blessed Trinity)
