Pittsburgh Panthers 2013 Specialists

Our summer tour of FBS schools looks at the specialists for the Pittsburgh Panthers.

Kicker: Chris Blewitt, freshman (Alexandria, VA / West Potomac HS)
Competing with Lukasak and Greer for the kicking job, which is open following the graduation of Kevin Harper.
High school: Rated one of the nation's top six placekickers by Scout following accomplished career at West Potomac High...received his scholarship offer from Pitt after a standout performance at the Panthers' specialist camp in June 2012...won the camp's kickoff competition and a single-elimination field-goal contest, kicking a hurry-up 55-yarder...selected All-State Class AAA...kicked 18 field goals and 72 extra points over his final two seasons...his senior year, kicked eight field goals with a long of 51 yards and also averaged 43 yards on punts...set school records for longest field goal (51 yards) and longest punt (79 yards)...94% of his kickoffs as a senior went for touchbacks
Kicker: Brad Lukasak, freshman (Orwigsburg, PA / Blue Mountain HS)
High school: converted 98-of-102 extra points (.961) and 4-of-6 field goals (.667) over his final two seasons...selected to play in the Pennsylvania Scholastic Football Coaches Association (PSFCA) East-West All-Star Game and converted a 48-yard field goal in the contest...also lettered in soccer and track and field
Blue-Gold Spring game: missed a 42 yard field goal attempt and made three extra points
Kicker/punter: Drake Greer, junior (Pittsburgh, PA / Bishop Canevin)
High school:  converted 14-of-16 field goals (87.5%) over his final two seasons...90% of his kickoffs went for touchbacks as a senior...selected first team All-State Class AA by the Pennsylvania Sports Writers as a kicker...selected to play in the Big 33 Football Classic
Blue-Gold Spring game: missed a 42 yard field goal attempt and made two extra points 
Punter: Matt Yoklic, senior (Gibsonia, PA / Pine-Richland HS)
Returning starter from the past two seasons. Averaged a career-best 41.8 yards on 61 punts for 2012...placed 19 punts inside the 20
"During the offseason our specials have been working together as a unit. I personally like to create a game like atmosphere as much as possible with a live snap or rushers if possible. When I go out and kick in the offseason I try to focus on one technical aspect of punting. That way you can improve incrementally throughout the offseason. My goal this year is the same as past years, I just want to help my team as much as possible pinning teams back in there own territory and flipping field position."
Punter: Ryan Winslow, freshman (Maple Glen, PA / La Ssalle College HS)
High school: rated one of the country's top four punters by addition to his punting duties, also served as a placekicker and kickoff specialist for La Salle...averaged 40 yards per punt as a senior...converted 15 of 16 placements (2-of-2 on field goals and 13-of-14 on PATs)
Long snapper: Kevin Barthelemy, senior (Moon Twp., Pa./Moon Area HS)
2012: Played in eight games as Pitt's primary long snapper...missed five games during a midseason stretch (Oct. 5 through Nov. 3) due to a left hand injury
2011: long snapper for field goals and extra points in all 13 games
Long snapper: David Murphy, sophomore (Buffalo, NY / St. Francis HS)
2012:  Began the season as a reserve but ultimately played in five games as team's starting long snapper when Kevin Barthelemy was out due to injury
Long snapper: Pat Quirin, freshman (Pittsburgh, PA / Pittsburgh Central Catholic)
High school: Three-year varsity all-conference offensive guard as a senior.
