"My plan is to go out here and punt as good as I possibly can. If that gets me the starting position, that'll be great. But I plan on holding too. Any way I can get on the field, I don't care if they put me at linebacker. I just want to get on the field.... I talked to my parents about it, and they've never let me quit at anything. I'm going to stay here and keep fighting for that starting position. That's just my perspective on it."Punter/kicker: Elliot Fry, freshman (Frisco, TX / Prince of Peace Christian)

"During the off season I have been working in the weight room and working on my foot to ball touch. My goals for the upcoming season would be to just get better as a player an do whatever I need to too make the team better."Punter: Mallie Sprouse, freshman (Bluffton, SC / Bluffton SC)
"Sprouse is among five walk-ons who were added to the University of South Carolina football roster on 9/3/13. Gamecocks assistant Everette Sands reached out to Sprouse and Bluffton coach Ken Cribb several weeks ago in an effort to get Sprouse to come out for the team, strictly as a punter. Sprouse had worked with former USC kicker Adam Yates in the spring. Sprouse, who turned down a scholarship offer from Presbyterian to attend South Carolina, was named the Island Packet/Beaufort Gazette first-team all-area punter for 2012, when he averaged 38.4 yards per punt. He left 11 punts inside the opponents' 20 and had just one touchback. Sprouse doesn't anticipate any playing time this season. He says he's focused on getting on the field for the 2014 season."Long snapper: Coleman Harley, sophomore (Aiken, SC / South Aiken HS)
