Kicker: Corey Acosta, junior (Memphis, TN / Christian Brothers HS)
2012: was 11 of 17 last year while making both a 51 yarder and a 50 yarder... had 8 touchbacks on 47 kickoff attempts
"This offseason I've been working on rehabbing my shoulder, getting stronger, and sharpening up my kicking technique. I tore my labrum halfway through last season, had surgery at the end of the season, and just finished up a seven month rehab process. I am in the best shape of my life right now and have kicked with a variety of other college kickers as well as working with Coach James Wilhoit and the staff of Kohl's kicking. Denmark native majoring in Exercise Science, was awarded the James A. Townley Award recognizing the most outstanding Intramural Sports Official of the Year
"During the offseason I have worked on getting physically stronger so that I can apply it to the distance on field goals and kickoffs. Also, I have put much focus on form and shape to be as well prepared as possible for the upcoming season. My goals for this summer are to keep working hard in the weight room, as well as, on the field. Follow thru on my kicks, have consistent form, and stay focused throughout camp. Ultimately, I will be ready to get on the field in time needed when the new season kicks off!"
High school: First team All-State selection by the Louisiana Sportswriters Association as a punter ... Also named to the 2012 All-Baton Rouge Area team ... Averaged over 40 yards a punt during his senior campaign and had 21 punts downed inside the 20 ... "This summer I have mainly done a lot of running and lifting with our team. We kicked 3 times a week going through all of our drill work and full punt and field goal operation. My goal for the rest of the summer is to continue to get more consistent and more hang time.
