NFL Week One: Monday Fun for Randy Bullock & Shane Lechler

After three game winning field goals on Sunday, the first week of the 2013 NFL season ended with yet another. On the final play as time expired in the second Monday night game, Randy Bullock hit a 41 yarder to give Houston a 31-28 win over San Diego.
“The kick felt very smooth. Once you hit it well, you know. It was awesome to put those last points on the board....
I’m not sure what to do with [the game ball]. I’m honored, but I don’t even know how to pack it.”
In the second quarter, Bullock had missed a 51 yarder wide left:
"I was pretty frustrated with the first half. I missed that one.... Our team showed the kind of heart that they have. We made some great plays on offense and defense to put me in that position. It might have been the last three points on the board but the fight that they had was very impressive.... I missed one a little bit earlier in the game, so it was important that I got back out there and do my job."
The first two-thirds of the game were actually not very fun for any of the Texans, and they found themselves down 28-7. But they rallied thereafter, culminating in Bullock's game winner. The experience made an impression on their newest specialist, punter/holder Shane Lechler:
"I was thinking after we won, how long it’s been since I’ve been 1-0. It’s been a while. That was fun. Just to see the fight and the grit and grind of this team and witness it firsthand. To witness it firsthand was quite an experience."
