April 6, 2015 - punter Marquette King signs restricted free agent tender
"King received an original-round tender and plans to sign it and get started working with this new coaching staff.... King’s original-round tender is worth $1.542 million.... King wants to continue his professional ascent after proving himself a Top 10 punter in the NFL. He seems like a logical long-term extension candidate considering his youth, talent and upside." March 13, 2015 - punter Steven Clark signed
"Former Auburn punter Steven Clark is getting another chance to make it in the NFL. The Oakland Raiders announced on Friday afternoon that they had added Clark to their roster in a free-agent signing. Clark is the only punter on the Raiders' roster right now, although Oakland's punter for the past two seasons, Marquette King, is expected back with the team. King is a restricted free agent, and he has been offered a contract by Oakland for the 2015 season. King led the NFL with 109 punts for 4,930 yards in 2014. He averaged 45.2 yards per punt. In 2013, King led the NFL with an average of 48.9 yards per punt. After averaging 42.6 yards per punt as a senior in 2013, Clark signed with the Denver Broncos as a free agent. But the Broncos released him on May 19." - AL.com

February 24, 2015 - kicker Giorgio Tavecchio signed
"Tavecchio spent time with the Raiders last preseason after he was claimed via waivers from the Detroit Lions on Aug. 26. He played in one preseason game for Oakland, connecting on 2-of-2 field-goal attempts, both from 47 yards out, against Seattle. The 5-foot-10, 182-pounder spent time in training camp with the San Francisco 49ers (2012), Green Bay Packers (2013) and Lions (2014) prior to joining the Silver and Black. Tavecchio played in 46 games for the Cal Bears' football team and finished his career with 256 points, ranking fifth on the school’s all-time scoring list and fourth among kickers." - CSN

January 20, 2015 - Brad Seely named special teams coordinator
"Seely will join Head Coach Jack Del Rio’s staff after spending the last four seasons with the San Francisco 49ers. A coaching veteran of 37 years, Seely has had NFL stints with the Indianapolis Colts, New York Jets, Carolina Panthers, New England Patriots, Cleveland Browns and 49ers. With San Francisco from 2011-14, Seely oversaw one on the top units in the NFL. During that time span, the 49ers tied (New England Patriots) for the most field goals converted (130), ranked second in net punting average (41.9), second in gross punting average (48.2) and seventh in opponents return average (8.3). In 2013, Seely’s unit ranked second in the NFL according to the Dallas Morning News’ Rick Gosselin’s annual special teams ranking." - Raiders

December 21, 2014 - Sebastian Janikowski kicks four field goals in win over Bills
"Janikowski made four of his five field-goal attempts and added two extra points to score 14 points in his team's 26-24 win over the Bills in Week 16. Janikowski delivered from 45 and 36 yards out in the second quarter to help his team take the lead and 38 and 49 yards in the third quarter to extend the lead to two scores." - CBS Sports

October 19, 2014 - Sebastian Janikowski kicks 350th career field goal
"Janikowski reached another milestone Sunday, as his third quarter field goal to pull the Raiders to within a point of the Arizona Cardinals marked the 350th of his illustrious career. Drafted in the first round of the 2000 NFL Draft, the Florida State product is the franchise’s all-time leading scorer with 1,515 points and was a member of the 2011 Pro Bowl team. By knocking in the 53-yarder, Janikowski also pulled even with Morten Anderson for the second most attempts from 50 yards-plus in NFL history with 84. He has made 46 of those attempts (54.8 percent), which is good for second all-time behind Jason Hanson’s 52. Additionally, he converted on his only extra point attempt of the game, which extended his streak to 176 straight." - Raiders

August 30, 2014 - kicker Giorgio Tavecchio released

August 26, 2014 - kicker Giorgio Tavecchio claimed off waivers
"The Raiders Tuesday announced they have claimed K Giorgio Tavecchio via waivers from the Detroit Lions. They released kicker Kevin Goessling in a corresponding move. Tavecchio has been in several training camps over the past three off-season. First spending time with the 49ers in 2012, then the Packers in 2013, and this year's camp with the Lions. He is originally from Italy and played college ball at University of California Berkeley right up the road from Oakland. I guess Fresno State (where Goessling played) wasn't close enough to home for the Raiders' liking. The left footed kicker will play in place of Sebastian Janikowski in this week's game as Janikowski recovers from a left quad injury. Tavecchip went 1 for 2 on field goals this preseason for the Lions, his one make being from 25 yards out." - Silver & Black Pride

August 23, 2014 - kicker Sebastian Janikowski quad update
"The staff has not determined if or how much starters would play in the final preseason game. Allen hoped kicker Sebastian Janikowski (right quad) would be available but if not would concentrate on getting him ready for the opener." - Mercury News

August 22, 2014 - kicker Sebastian Janikowski misses Packers game
"Janikowski was a surprise scratch from Friday’s preseason game against the Green Bay Packers. The veteran suffered a strained right quad this week. The injury’s severity is unknown, and it’s unclear how much time Janikowski will miss. Head coach Dennis Allen will update Janikowski’s status after the game." - CSN Bay Area

August 17, 2014 - kicker Kevin Goessling released
"The Raiders waived kicker Kevin Goessling in order to make room for TE Kyle Auffray on the roster." - Scout

August 15, 2014 - second preseason game
"Sebastian Janikowski and holder Marquette King looked smooth. 3-for-3 on FGs (really 4-for-4 but Lions had too many men on field)." - SF Gate

August 7, 2014 - kicker Kevin Goessling signed
"The Oakland Raiders signed free-agent kicker and former Fresno State star Kevin Goessling on Thursday. Goessling, who participated on a tryout basis at Oakland's rookie mini-camp this past May, was a three-time All-Western Athletic Conference selection at Fresno State. He played in 52 games over four years at Fresno State (2008-11), scoring 373 points and converting 61 of 81 field goal attempts during his collegiate career. He hit a career-long 58-yard field goal as a redshirt freshman. To make room on the roster, the Raider waived kicker/punter Michael Palardy." - Fresno Bee

August 2, 2014 - specialists & coaching
"In an effort to improve their relationship on and off the field, Sebastian Janikowski flew to California two months before training camp in order to get in extra work with Marquette King. The two, along with long snapper Jon Condo, worked out together privately and have looked much smoother since training camp began. 'For him to go out and have success, he's gotta be comfortable and feel good that the operation is going to be the same on every single play,' Raiders coach Dennis Allen said of Janikowski. 'That operation with Jon and Marquette and Seabass (Janikowski) has improved tremendously, and I do think that Seabass has a lot more confidence in Marquette as a holder.' Allen also credited special teams assistant coach Chris Boniol, a former kicker who spent six seasons in the NFL. 'Chris has a way of being able to relate to those guys and talk to them on a level where they can understand what he's trying to get accomplished,' Allen said. 'To (Janikowski's) credit, he's taken to all of that and done everything that we've asked him to do'." - Boston Herald

July 20, 2014 - kicker Sebastian Janikowski & his co-specialists
"Janikowski is still more serious about his kicking than he is about his golf. He said he normally stays home in Florida until it's time for training camp, but this year he came West two months early to work with long snapper John Condo and holder (and punter) Marquette King.... There's no question that the three-man team had some rough moments [last year], and Janikowski's offseason work with Condo and King is an indication that they know what we know. 'With Shane, we knew each other so well, that's a trust issue right there,' Janikowski said. 'He knew if I'm pushing the ball, he would tilt the ball in the different direction. So now I'm working with Marquette, and it's improving a lot'.... Advanced age has been ruled out as a factor in last year's slump. Janikowski is 36, but says he compensates by working harder, doing more running and stretching, more work on weights on the stationary bike, and lots and lots of kicking.  'I don't think I've lost any distance,' he said. 'The power has always been there. My final step is so powerful, I've always had the power, since high school. ... I feel that I'm as strong as I was eight, 10 years ago'." - SF Gate

June 5, 2014 - kicker/punter Michael Palardy signed
"Palardy (5-foot-11, 191 pounds) joins Oakland as an undrafted free agent from the University of Tennessee. The left-footed kicker appeared in 46 games over four seasons for the Volunteers, seeing action at kicker and punter. As a kicker, Palardy connected on 37-of-50 (74.0 percent) field goal attempts and 109-of-115 (94.8 percent) extra-point attempts for 220 points. As a punter, Palardy totaled 117 punts for 5,024 yards (42.9 avg.) with 50 punts downed inside the 20-yard line. The Coral Springs, Fla., native also posted 224 kickoffs for 13,843 yards and 50 touchbacks.... To make room on the roster, the Raiders have waived WR Jared Green, WR Noel Grigsby and P Daniel Zychlinski. " - Raiders

April 4, 2014 - punter Daniel Zychlinski signed
"The Oakland Raiders have signed free agent punter Daniel Zychlinski, General Manager Reggie McKenzie announced Friday. Zychlinski played at Stanford from 2008-12, seeing action in 41 games, and punted 97 times for 4,096 yards (42.2 avg.). He had his best season as a fifth-year senior in 2012, punting 66 times for 2,846 yards and a 43.1 average, the fifth-best total in school history." - Raiders

February 6, 2014 - Chris Boniol hired as assistant special teams coach
"Boniol spent the last four seasons on the staff of the Dallas Cowboys. He played six seasons in the NFL for Dallas, Philadelphia and Chicago. His best year was in 1995 when he made 27 of 28 field goals for the Cowboys." - Fox News

January 24, 2014 - Punter Marquette King gets advice from Ray Guy
Guy said he was aware of King back at Fort Valley State, before he signed with the Raiders, and talks to him fairly often. 'We talked before the Eagles game, and he’ll call or text me if he has any questions or wants to chat,' Guy said. 'He’s great. He will be a great asset for the Raiders for years to come.' Like Guy (a former safety) was in his days in the Silver and Black, King (a former receiver) is a great athlete who can punt. 'Marquette has a very powerful leg, and he is very natural with great coordination,' Guy said. 'He’s learning that kicking it harder sometimes doesn’t always work out'.” - SF Gate
