February 13, 2015 - punter/kicker Blake Boyles commits as preferred walk-on
Boyles recently committed to playing football at the University of Houston after a successful high school kicking career. Boyles grew up playing soccer and was quite the goalkeeper but after a series of injuries Boyles knew football was the way to go.... Boyles is considered a preferred walk-on. A walk-on does not have a scholarship but is on the 105-man roster. He will then have a chance to compete for the starting job and in Boyles’ case he will be competing against two seniors. As a freshman, Boyles will be competing for the punting job but would eventually like to be the place-kicker as well." - Sand Springs Leader

September 16, 2014 - assessing punting & holding
"You can imagine the reaction from coach Tony Levine when he watched the Cougars' special-teams breakdowns - in blocking, coverage and missed kicking opportunities - in last week's 33-25 loss at No. 25 BYU. The second quarter alone was a nightmare for the Cougars. Kicker Kyle Bullard missed two extra-point attempts and had a 39-yard field goal blocked, the result of a bad hold.... Levine said personnel changes are likely forthcoming this week in anticipation of Saturday's final non-conference game against UNLV. The changes could include blockers in the return game and competition at punter and holder. UH entered the season planning to use two punters, but Dylan Seibert, a transfer from Oklahoma, has seen a majority of the duties and also has served as holder. That could open the door for the Cougars' other punter, Logan Piper, to handle holds on field goals and extra points. 'It's something we took a hard look at Sunday night,' Levine said." - Houston Chronicle

August 27, 2014 - summer specialists
"Competing for Kicker, Ty Cummings: A true freshman last season, Levine said Cummings had as good a spring as anyone on the team. His experience consisted of handling the occasional kickoff. Kyle Bullard: A junior who took over some kicking duties against USF, he finished last season 6-6 on field goals with his longest being a 46-yarder against Louisville. Bullard was also the sixth leading scorer on the team with 38 points.
Competing for Punter, Logan Piper: A junior and a  former pitcher for the UH baseball team, Piper saw no action last year while serving as Leone’s backup and has been in the program for three years, something that will please Levine’s love for experienced players. Dylan Siebert: Another junior and a transfer from the University of Oklahoma, he served as the starting holder last year, with no bad holds to his record.
Long Snapper: Junior Nolan Frese returns as the top part of the special teams triangle. He had no botched snaps during the 2013 season." - U Wire

April 28, 2014 - kicker Kyle Bullard lands scholarship
"Coach Tony Levine had a surprise for walk-on kicker Kyle Bullard earlier this month. Levine asked for a meeting with Bullard, a junior from Boerne, and his mother, Lynn, in his office. All the while, Levine was secretly recording the meeting with four hidden cameras. As Levine begins to discuss scholarship limits, Bullard is visibly nervous. 'I see you going on scholarship very, very soon,' Levine said. 'Really, when I say very, very soon, I mean right now'.” -  Houston Chronicle

March 29, 2014 - spring scrimmage
"On the special teams side, sophomore kicker Ty Cummings nailed a 22-yard field goal and was perfect on both of his PAT attempts. Junior Kyle Bullard also nailed both of his PAT attempts in the scrimmage." - Sugar Land Sun

March 22, 2014 - first spring scrimmage
"With Richie Leone graduating from Houston, the punt position is up for grabs for the first time in four years and junior Dylan Seibert put his best foot forward Saturday with four punts for an average of 47.0 yards." - Cougars
