Army Black Knights Kicker, Punter & Snapper News

August 27, 2015 - summer specialists
"Army does return the bulk of its special teams units. Kicker Daniel Grochowski, punter Alex Tardieu and long snapper Connor Farley all return for their senior season. Grochowski was successful on 6-of-13 field goals last season and averaged 57.3 yards per kickoff. Tardieu punted 44 times for an average of 39.3 yards per boot. Eighteen of his punts were inside the opponents' 20 yard line and six were 50 yards or longer." - Go Army

May 22, 2015 - kicker/punter Nicholas Schrage
"achieved All-American status as a punter/kicker on this year's Fork Union Military Academy postgraduate football team. He was highly recruited to play football in college and received offers from many top Division I university programs, including the University of Miami in the hometown where he was born. But Schrage recognized that attending the US Military Academy at West Point would be the best choice to help him achieve the things he wanted to do in his life, so the Miami native turned down very attractive scholarship offers from the Hurricanes and other top national football programs, to play for Army this fall. He hopes to compete for a starting job on the football team as soon as he arrives and his dream is to kick the winning field goal in the closing seconds of the game to beat Navy in that great national rivalry game." - FUMI

October 7, 2014 - kicker Dan Grochowski
"A viral infection had left Grochowski bedridden Wednesday, Thursday and part of Friday at Keller Army Community Hospital last week. He would kick his first field goals of the week in pregame warmups and he made all of his practice kicks. And, when it counted, Grochowski connected on his first two field goals of the season from 43 and 21 yards in Army’s 33-24 win over Ball State. 'I was still feeling a little shaky with my feet (on Friday) because I had been bedridden,' Grochowski said. 'Saturday, I don’t know. The adrenaline was kicking in and I felt great.' Grochowski said he also found strength in the support of his teammates. Players visited Grochowski in the hospital to boost his spirits.... Grochowski said he’s thankful for Army coach Jeff Monken sticking with him. He had missed a 42-yard game-winning field goal as time expired and a 25-yarder in overtime in Army’s loss at Yale the previous week." - Record Online

The teams exchanged punts, and a 36-yard boot by Alex Tardieu that was downed at the 2-yard line gave the Black team its worst field position. A three-and-out forced a punt by D. Grochowski that was returned 25 yards to the Gold’s 10-yard line." - Army
