August 18, 2015 - punter Drew Galitz
"Galitz is the only incoming freshman who will play for certain. Galitz will replace all-Big 12 punter Spencer Roth who finished his career with a 43.7-yard average. He’s even wearing Roth’s old No. 36. 'I’m real excited because there’s big expectations and I have a big role to fill,' Galitz said. 'Playing for back to back Big 12 champs, you can’t get better than that.' Galitz handled punting and kicking duties as a senior at Rowlett High School, and became a YouTube sensation when he nailed a 71-yard field goal during a practice last fall. That video has received more than 90,000 hits." - Waco Tribune-Herald

February 16, 2015 - long snapper Chris Lutzel commits
"...With God all things are possible.' Matthew 19:26. Humbled to have committed to play football at Baylor!!!#SicEm" - Chris Lutzel

October 11, 2014 - Chris Callahan kicks game winner over TCU
"It was only the second time that two Associated Press top 10 teams had met in Waco, and the Bears came out on top with a captivating 61-58 victory over the No. 9 TCU Horned Frogs at McLane Stadium on Saturday night. The Bears pulled off a historic comeback to keep the fire burning for a chance at the national title. All of that rested on the shoulders of a freshman kicker, with the score tied and one play left in regulation.... Baylor redshirt freshman Chris Callahan nailed a 25-yard field goal as time expired to cap off a dramatic 24-point comeback from the Bears in the final 10 minutes of the game — a school record for the latest and most points scored in a comeback win for Baylor. Callahan’s kick sent the fans at McLane Stadium into jubilation, who ended up rushing the field to celebrate the Bears’ incredible win. 'I saw that kick go up and how it came off my foot and I knew it was in. I had no doubt,' Callahan said. 'We’ve struggled this year, but we’ve really worked on getting back to perfection. We’re a resilient team. We’ve talked about that all year'." - Baylor Lariat

September 2, 2014 - no kicker change
"Baylor coach Art Briles is planning no changes at kicker after redshirt freshman Chris Callahan connected on 1 of 4 field goal attempts in the opening win over SMU. Briles noted one attempt from 52 yards was blocked and another miss came after a penalty nullified a made attempt. 'He’s our guy right now,' Briles said. 'We would hope that’s not the norm'.” - Dallas Morning News

August 27, 2014 - punter/kicker Drew Galitz commits
"Rowlett High School punter-kicker Drew Galitz made a verbal commitment to Baylor on Tuesday night after de-committing from Miami. Galitz has been rated one of the top senior kickers in the country, and is the 12th verbal commitment in Baylor’s 2015 class.... Last season, Galitz primarily handled kickoff duties for Rowlett while also doing some punting. Coach Doug Stephens said Galitz will punt for Rowlett this year and share kicking duties with Josh Williams. Since Baylor redshirt freshman Chris Callahan has just taken over place kicking duties this season, Galitz could be in line to handle Baylor’s future punting since Spencer Roth is a senior. Roth has punted for Baylor for four years and received all-Big 12 honors after averaging 45.8 yards per punt last season." - Waco Tribune-Herald

August 23, 2014 - summer specialists
"Chris Callahan is the likely "starter" at placekicker, and in yesterday's scrimmage, he hit a 36-yard field goal and two extra points.  Peterson kicked off in six games last season, so I wouldn't be surprised to see him do that again this year.  As far as we know, Callahan is the only scholarship player of the three.... Spencer "The Leg" Roth is the only nominal punter we have the roster, though it should be noted that during his recruitment, Callahan was billed as possibly filling both roles.  Roth is as known a quantity as there is at the position. Roth's stats have improved each of the last three years to the point that he made the preseason watch list for the Ray Guy Award given to the nation's best punter." - Our Daily Bears

August 11, 2014 - kicker Chris Callahan
Aaron Jones isn’t an easy act to follow after setting Baylor kicking and scoring records throughout his four seasons. But Chris Callahan is a confident redshirt freshman who is ready to carve out his own niche for the Bears. Callahan is set to be Baylor’s next kicker after an outstanding prep career at Houston Second Baptist. He’s eager to see his first action Aug. 31 when the Bears open McLane Stadium against SMU before a packed house of 45,000 fans. 'I think 3,000 to 4,000 is probably the most people I’ve kicked in front of,' Callahan said. 'Now we’ll be in a new stadium and it will be a whole different atmosphere. It will be different but exciting.' Though Callahan will be performing in front of big crowds for the next four years, the pressure doesn’t scare him. He showed great consistency and accuracy throughout the spring as he competed against junior Kyle Peterson for the starting job. 'Chris was as consistent this spring as anybody we’ve had,' Baylor coach Art Briles said. 'He’s a good consistent kicker who gets good height on the ball and has great accuracy.' Callahan put up some impressive numbers at Houston Second Baptist as he hit 31 of 41 field goals and 206 of 214 extra points in his high school career." -  Waco Tribune-Herald

April 5, 2014 - spring scrimmage
"Redshirt freshman kicker Chris Callahan took all three of Baylor’s field goal attempts." - Baylor Lariat

March 24, 2014 - spring punter
"The Bears featured one of the best special-teams units in the country in 2013, and Spencer Roth spearheaded that effort. The All-Big 12 punter was sixth nationally with an average of 45.8 yards per punt. Because of how prolific the Baylor offense is, Roth doesn’t get to punt often. But when he does, he usually swings field position the other way." - ESPN

February 28, 2014 - spring kicker
"With senior kicker and all-time leading scorer in Baylor history Aaron Jones graduated, the Bears have a hole in the lineup at kicker. Chris Callahan, who originally was going to be grey-shirted last year, chose to redshirt instead and will be entering his 2nd year at Baylor. Callahan brings an accurate leg to Waco and should provide a good weapon for inside 45 yards." - Scout
