October 11, 2014 - kicker/punter Michael Tarbutt commits
"UConn picked up its 16th commitment on Friday for the Class of 2015 with kicker/punter Michael Tarbutt from Canisius High in Buffalo making a verbal commitment.Tarbutt is originally from Canada and fits in nicely with the plan at placekicker. The Huskies have sophomore Bobby Puyol as the kicker and Tarbutt can sit out his freshman year as a redshirt if he isn’t needed." - Journal Inquirer

August 22, 2014 - backup kicker/punter Chase Briley
"Briley, a walk-on freshman from Hartford, will be the back-up kicker and punter. Briley, listed at 5-foot-11 and 165 pounds, comes to the Huskies from the Capital Prep Magnet School. He will provide the support behind sophomore kicker Bobby Puyol and punter Justin Wain. That’s a change from the post-spring practice depth chart, where Wain and Puyol were listed as backups to each other. 'Bobby can punt but Wain will not kick,' coach Bob Diaco said. 'Wain just punts. If Chase continues to improve, then Bobby wouldn’t even need to be used as a punter'.” - Ken Davis Files

August 14, 2014 - kicker Bobby Puyol & punter Justin Wain
"The name of the game, as we all know, is putting it through the goal posts, that and consistency is so huge,'" Puyol said. 'I really just worked on accuracy and trying to do the same thing every single time. Working with (strength) coach (Matt) Balis, doing all the strength stuff ¦ that's been a big part of the process.' Added Wain: 'Distance and hang time can go hand-in-hand but hang time is the key. If I can keep the ball up there and make them fair-catch it, that's great. With the power that I've gotten from the weight room, it's allowed me to kick some decent punts.' And given the coaching staff optimism that there won't be too many worries about the special-teams units this season. 'It's been fun, it really has,' head coach Bob Diaco said. 'I enjoy coaching them and they're both getting better and better every day'." - Greenwich Time

May 30, 2014 - new specialists
"The Huskies will also break in a new kicker and punter. Sophomore Bobby Puyol will take over at kicker while redshirt freshman Justin Wain gets first crack at replacing Cole Wagner at punter." - USA Today

April 12, 2014 - Blue-White Spring Game
"Coach Bob Diaco called redshirt freshman Justin Wain fundamentally a mess a few weeks ago. He looked all right Saturday, averaging 45.2 yards on his 10 punts. He said there is still work to do with Wain, but Diaco, who personally works with the punters, said Wain certainly showed improvement from where he was. Kicker Bobby Puyol had a bit of a rough day. He missed a 41-yard field goal, connected on distances of 34 and 30 yards — and missed an extra point.Diaco said he was pleased with the way Puyol played, given how sick he was with a stomach issue." -  Hartford Courant
