November 25, 2014 - kicker Niklas Sade now teams all-time scorer
Niklas Sade put his name at the top of several categories in NC State’s record book this season, the culmination of four years of solid performances as the Wolfpack’s starting placekicker. Thanks to a pair of extra points in the game against Wake Forest Nov. 15, he broke the school’s all-time scoring record that had been held for more than 35 years by All-American running back Ted Brown, who scored 312 points on 51 touchdowns and three two-point conversions during his Hall of Fame career. Though Brown is still the ACC’s all-time leading rusher, Sade is now one spot above him on the points scored list. 'That’s something I never even considered, though I’ve known this year that it was a possibility,' said Sade, a product of Raleigh’s Wakefield High School who grew up in Germany.  'When I was deciding on a school, I just wanted to play my first year. I didn’t really think about the accomplishments that would come from playing for four years. I just wanted to play'." - The Wolfpacker

September 25, 2014 - punter Wil Baumann
"Baumann punted four times against the Blue Hose and averaged 55.3 yards a boot. Three were planted inside the 20 and one went for a touchback. His long punt was 67 yards, and his net average was 50.2 yards. All of that resulted in Baumann being named the Ray Guy Award Player of the Week by the Augusta Sports Council and the Ray Guy Award. 'It means I did my job,' Baumann said. 'I thought I had some pretty good punts throughout the day, so I feel good about the reward.' Baumann has being doing his job all season. He is averaging an ACC-high 50.2 yards per punt, which would rank second best in the Football Bowl Subdivision except for one thing. He has only punted 11 times, averaging 2.8 punts per game. The cutoff mark for the FBS rankings is 3.6.... If his early-season success continues Baumann will continue a trend where he got better every year. He averaged 37.5 yards a punt as a freshman, 38.9 as a sophomore and then 42.2 last fall. He needs just 10 punts and 226 punting yards to set new school records in both categories." - The Wolfpacker

August 12, 2014 - kicker Niklas Sade in range of record
"Sade is on the verge of becoming the school’s all-time leading scorer, yet he says he doesn’t even remember his biggest moments – like his 43-yard game-winner over Maryland as a sophomore. 'Usually I don’t remember,' Sade said. 'I’m so in the zone that everything around me is just blocked out.' Sade is coming off a junior campaign in which he recorded 88 points -- good for the sixth best single-season scoring output by any Wolfpack player in history. With a career total of 250 points entering 2014, he now needs just 63 points to pass Ted Brown on the Pack’s all-time career scoring list. 'I’m not thinking about it going into the season,' Sade said. 'It’s pretty great I am in a situation I can do something like that for the program, but I am going to go into the season and take it one kick at a time'.” - WRAL

July 26, 2014 - long snapper Tyler Griffiths commits
"Long snapper Tyler Griffiths chose NC State over Louisville Saturday morning. Griffiths visited Louisville this week." - Mike Hughes

April 8, 2014 - long snapper Scott Thompson enters senior year
"Pack fans should be very familiar with Thompson as the 5-foot-11, 246-pounder prepares to enter his fourth season as the team's starter. Thompson, kicker Niklas Sade and punter Wil Baumann, have each started at their respective positions for the last three campaigns with just one missed game for the trio during that span. 'It doesn't feel like [four years] at all,' Thompson noted. 'But it has been amazing. We're trying to start going to weekly dinners with all of us, plus Scooby [back-up punter Will Stephenson]. I love all of those guys. Those guys are the best kickers in the country in my opinion, so it doesn't get much better than them.' Thompson explained that the three, who spend much of practice refining their crafts on a field separate from the rest of the team, have grown so close that they share in each others' successes." - The Wolfpacker

April 7, 2014 - punter Wil Baumann enters senior year
"Hoggard graduate Wil Baumann is the NC State punter. Baumann ranks third in school history in career punts with one more season left in Raleigh. 'I'm always looking to improve. I"ve had a pretty good three seasons leading up to my last year. This year I want to be consistent with everything I do. I want my good ball to come out every single time.' As a junior Wil Baumann ranked 7th in the ACC with 42.2 punting average. Wolfpack head coach Dave Doeren says it was a good season for Wil, but not great. 'Wil is a guy who is very detailed,' Doeren said. 'He works hard, takes it very serious. I know it's important for him to have a great senior year. The biggest thing for him is consistency. We're gonna nail down his ability to be a great pooch punter, trying to get a bunch of those balls inside the 10 to help our defense'." - WWAY
