Nicholls State Colonels Kicker, Punter & Snapper News

August 22, 2014 - summer specialists
"With new kickers and holders, the field-goal kicking struggled during spring practice and in the first fall scrimmage. But in the final scrimmage, the field-goal kicking dramatically improved. The Colonels were 5-for-5 in field goals and 3-for-3 on extra points.... Making field goals of 30 and 39 yards in the scrimmage was recent arrival Francisco Condado, signed before fall camp after playing two seasons at Cerritos (Calif.) College.... Condado (5-foot-10, 170 pound, Jr.) isn't the only new place-kicker on the roster, as Nicholls has David McKay (5-9, 165, Soph.) and Tyler St. Germain (6-2, 175, Fresh.) on the team. Also veteran punter Connor Fryoux (5-10, 180, Sr.) can kick field goals, while St. Germain is listed as Fryoux's backup at punter. The most experience player in the place-kicking operation is long snapper Ty Boudreaux (5-9, 185, Sr.). Boudreaux said he and new holder Landry Klann have been working diligently on their timing to give the kickers a chance to make every attempt." - Houma Today

April 20, 2014 - coach Charlie Stubbs discusses special teams
"We don’t do a lot of work on special teams in the spring, but I feel really good about our kickoff situation. Ryan Domangue did a great job of kicking deep into the endzone and he has a powerful leg. Conner Fryoux came on towards the end with his punting, so I feel like he improved in that area. And Ty Boudreaux has always been consistent as our long snapper. Our returners did a very good job fielding kicks, and it will be interesting to see how that competition heats up once we bring in our new guys in the fall. Our biggest concern is our field goal kicking. We gave all of our young men a chance, and we’re not giving up on them, but we will bring in another kicker to compete for that job." - SportsNOLA
