February 4, 2015 - punter Brady Hale & kicker Chase Vinatieri sign
"Hale played multiple roles in helping lead Yankton High School to 2014 Class AA state championship. He was an all-state selection and member of the Sioux Falls Argus Leader Elite 45 after averaging 38 yards per punt and connecting on 11-of-17 field goals, including a 53-yarder. Hale added 40 receptions, scored five touchdowns, and notched 25 tackles and three interceptions on defense. As a youth, Hale was a champion in the 14-15 age group of the national Punt, Pass and Kick competition....
Vinatieri excelled both as a kicker and wide receiver at Roosevelt High School in Sioux Falls. He earned all-state honors as a kicker as junior and was a two-time honorable mention all-state honoree as a receiver. In 2014, Vinatieri was named to Sioux Falls Argus Leader Elite 45 after catching 43 passes for 713 yards and eight touchdowns as Roosevelt advanced to state championship. The nephew of former Jackrabbit and current NFL standout kicker Adam Vinatieri." - Jackrabbits

October 18, 2014 - Justin Syrovatka kicks game winner over Northern Iowa
"Justin Syrovatka on Saturday hit a 44-yard field goal that provided No. 18-ranked South Dakota State with the decisive points in its first win at No. 20 Northern Iowa since 1978. The fifth-year senior called it the biggest kick of his career – and there are plenty to choose from at this point. However, Syrovatka copped to being fixated on a miss leading up to the crucial make that came with 1:47 to go in a 28-all game. 'Kind of made up for last year's against UNI in the fourth quarter,' he said. 'I was thinking about that a lot, and just went out there and got it done.' Last year, the Roosevelt High grad missed a 45-yard attempt against the Panthers with 6:35 remaining and the score tied at 28-28. Apparently, he hung onto that even though SDSU won the game in double overtime in Brookings. Still, there have been more highs than lows for the 5-foot-9, 205-pound Syrovatka. Somewhat quietly, he's having a stellar career. He ranks second in the history of a program that's produced some good kickers – Adam Vinatieri, anyone? – for career field goals (44), holds the record for consecutive makes (15) and is 126 of 128 on PATs. This season, he's 9-for-10 on field goals, with at least one make in every game." - Argus leader

September 29, 2014 - WR/kicker Chase Vinatieri commits
"South Dakota State has landed another Roosevelt High star and another Vinatieri. On Monday afternoon in Brookings, Rough Riders senior receiver and kicker Chase Vinatieri gave a verbal commitment to play football for the Jackrabbits. The 6-foot-2, 195-pounder is the classmate of SDSU recruit quarterback Taryn Christion and the nephew of former Jacks punter and kicker Adam Vinatieri of the Indianapolis Colts. Chase Vinatieri made an unofficial visit to Nebraska on Saturday, and also had a scholarship offer from three-time defending FCS champion North Dakota State.... He said the SDSU staff will decide if he plays receiver or kicker in college. This fall, Vinatieri has 21 catches for 349 yards and a touchdown. Also, he has 16 touchbacks on 20 kickoffs and is 1 of 2 on field goals. He was 6 of 7 on field goals as a junior along with making 39 catches for 520 yards and four touchdowns." - Argus Leader

April 18, 2014 - spring specialists
"Lincoln High grad Sam Koob is a spring addition at the kicker spot. He's a former soccer player, and has a big leg. And new punter Ron Pavlik has an interesting story. He went to Chicago-area powerhouse Mount Carmel before Western Michigan then Murray State. Last year, he was a student assistant for the Jacks. Now, he's trying to make the roster." - Argus Leader
