Wagner Seahawks Kicker, Punter & Snapper News

August 25, 2014 - punter A.J. Firestone named team captain
"The strong-legged, 6-1, 210-pound Firestone was named First-Team All-NEC in 2013 and is a 2014 Preseason All-NEC selection. Last season, he averaged 41.0 yards on 28 punts, with a long of 52, three punts over 50 yards, four touchbacks, five fair catches, five downed inside the 20-yard line while earning a spot on the 2013 NEC Fall All-Academic Roll. A highlight of his 2013 campaign came in the season finale when he played a key role in Wagner's season-ending 10-7 win at Saint Francis U (11/16), punting seven times for a 45.2-yard and twice pinning Saint Francis U inside its own 20." - Seahawks

July 1, 2014 - long snapper Phil Faccone
"Senior long-snapper Phil Faccone (Brick, NJ/Brick Memorial) has been named to The Sports Network Preseason All-American Second-Team....  'Number one, Phil has a great work ethic and it's that work ethic that has led to his consistency," said Wagner head coach Walt Hameline. 'He has a great mindset for the position. He's calm, level-headed and he works at it'.... 'When he arrived three years ago, you would not have thought he was a Division I athlete but he really worked himself into being a top long-snapper and contributor to our program,' special teams coach Ryan Fullen added. 'He's lost weight, he's put the time in, and he works at his craft. I'm thrilled that his efforts continue to be recognized because Phil works his tail off and cares a ton'. Faccone's combination of scholarly work in the classroom and community-minded spirit, have allowed him to be nominated to the 2014 Allstate AFCA Good Works Team®. One of the sport's premier service honors, the Allstate AFCA Good Works Team® shines a spotlight on the positive, off-the-field impact that a select group of student-athletes has on their communities." - Seahawks

March 28, 2014 - spring specialists
"Wagner feels good about this unit as the Seahawks return fifth-year senior and First-Team All-NEC punter A.J. Firestone (Mercersburg, PA/Penn State) and strong-legged senior kicker Bryan Maley (Eagle River, Alaska/Chugiak). Maley grabbed headlines in 2013 when he stepped in for the injured David Lopez and booted the game-winning kick at eventual NEC Champion Sacred Heart (10/5) en route to earning NEC Special Teams Player of the Week honors. For the year, Maley was 3-of-4 on field goal attempts and a perfect 7-of-7 on PATs. Wagner also returns consistent and dependable senior Phil Faccone (Brick, NJ/Brick Township) at long-snapper. In 2013, Faccone was named Third-Team All-American by The Sports Network." - Eagles
