August 12, 2015 - summer specialists
"After graduating two-year starter Joey Cejudo, who handled kicking and punting duties last fall, the Penguins don’t have a single kicker or punter on the roster who’s played in a college game. Sophomore Connor McFadden, a Poland High graduate and the son of former NFL kicker Paul McFadden, is battling Mooney graduate Zak Kennedy (who graduated early and enrolled in January) for placekicking duties. At punter, redshirt freshman Nick Sheely (Fitch), true freshman Mark Schuler (Springfield) and Kennedy are competing." - Vindy

April 6, 2015 - kicker/punter competition
"Sophomore Connor McFadden (Poland) has the early edge at kicker and he made a 37-yard field goal early in practice. True freshman Zak Kennedy, who was playing at Cardinal Mooney last fall, hit the right goal post on his first extra point attempt, then made his next. Redshirt freshman Vlassios Pizanias (Hubbard) has seen time at kicker and punter and has shown a big leg, but needs to be more consistent. Same with redshirt freshman Nick Sheely (Fitch). None of the kickers/punters had a particularly good scrimmage." - Vindy

March 25, 2015 - kicker/punter competition
"The Penguins lost kicker/punter Joey Cejudo to graduation, so there's a lot of young guys in camp vying for those jobs, including four local players: sophomore K Connor McFadden (Poland), redshirt freshman punter Nick Sheely (Fitch), redshirt freshman P/K Vlassios Pizanias (a Hubbard grad who played at Toledo last season) and freshman K Zak Kennedy (who graduated from Cardinal Mooney in December)." - Vindy

February 4, 2015 - kicker/punter Zak Kennedy signs

April 15, 2014 - kicker/punter Joey Cejudo
"Cejudo (6-foot-4, 220 pounds) spent the next two years at two California junior colleges, then headed 2,400 miles east to Youngstown, where he was reunited with his high school classmate, long snapper Nathan Gibbs, who had joined the Penguins in July of 2011, three weeks before training camp....  Last season, Cejudo and Gibbs joined Nick Liste and holder Dante Nania to form the core of the first good special teams unit of the Eric Wolford era. Liste earned first team all-conference honors, while Cejudo made 6 of 8 field goals and 49 of 51 extra points.... With Liste graduating, Cejudo will handle placekicking, kickoff and punting duties this fall. He averaged 36.7 yards per punt two years ago at Mt. San Antonio College, putting 15 of 47 inside the 20. He even taught Liste an end-over-end style that helps pin opponents near the goal line." - Vindy
