October 10, 2105 - Ryan Granger kicks and runs Coastal Carolina to win over Presbyterian
"With Coastal Carolina’s deep cast of playmakers, it’s not often that the kicker steals the spotlight. But then again, it’s also not often that the kicker scores the team’s first touchdown and accounts for more than half of the Chanticleers’ points. Junior Ryan Granger had a career day Saturday while totaling 15 points in the No. 1/2-ranked Chants’ 24-17 home victory over Presbyterian, rushing in for a touchdown on a fake field goal play and converting all three of his field goal attempts.... 'Whether it’s a fake or just a field goal or PAT, I always just go out there and think that it’s just like practice every day. I’ve just got to execute the best I can,' Granger said." - Myrtle Beach Online

September 14, 2015 - punter Evan Rabon named Big South Special Teams Player of the Week
"Rabon averaged 41.7 yards on three punts at South Carolina State, and landed all three inside the 20-yard line as the Bulldogs could not manage any returns.  He had a 46-yard punt that was fair caught at the SCSU 15-yard line, his second kick was 48 yards and downed at the 15, and his last punt was downed inside the one-yard line." - Big South

September 3, 2015 - Autumn specialists
"True freshman Evan Rabon will open the season as the Chanticleers’ starting punter after edging out sophomore Masamitsu Ishibashi. Ishibashi will handle kickoffs and work behind both Rabon at punter and junior place-kicker Ryan Granger on field goals as the Chants start the season Saturday night at Furman. 'It was very, very close between [Rabon] and Masa,' coach Moglia said. 'Masa probably had a little bit of an edge, [but] Masa has had a little trouble just kind of handling the ball. But if Masa had to go in the game, he’d be OK. That’s how Evan ended up beating him out at that spot.' Rabon averaged 37.3 yards on 40 punts last season for South Florence High School and replaces four-year starter Austin Cain, who averaged a program-record 39.2 yards per punt last season. The Chants are replacing their entire kicking unit. Along with Rabon emerging, Granger is entering his first season as the starting kicker, freshman Connor Kubala takes over at long snapper and sophomore Tyler Keane takes over as the primary holder." - Myrtle Beach Online

December 3, 2014 - Ryan Granger to start at placekicker
"With the stakes as high as they've been all season heading into the NCAA FCS playoffs, Coastal Carolina has elected to make a change at kicker following senior Alex Catron's recent struggles. Sophomore Ryan Granger will handle field goal duties for the No. 7-seeded Chanticleers as they host Richmond on Saturday at Brooks Stadium in the second round of the playoffs, coach Joe Moglia said Tuesday. Catron was voted second-team All-Big South this year, but he has missed his last four field goal tries --- including a 24-yard potential game-winner in the final seconds against Liberty that was blocked as the Chants lost their regular-season finale 15-14. He is 11-of-21 overall for the season, while Granger is 5-for-5 on field goals and 8-for-8 on extra points in limited opportunities the last two seasons. 'We're going with Granger,' Moglia said. '[Assistant coach Curt Baldus] had a private conversation with each of them. Alex understood what was going on.' Catron will continue to handle kickoff duties for the Chants (11-1), who had a bye in the first round of the playoffs while Richmond (9-4) defeated Morgan State to advance to this matchup." - The State

October 1, 2014 - kicker Alex Catron
After watching kicker Alex Catron deliver clutch field goals and show a mostly steady leg the last two seasons, Coastal Carolina football coach Joe Moglia has been patient with the struggling senior so far this fall. That patience has a limit, though. Moglia hinted as much after the Chanticleers’ 31-3 win over Elon on Saturday night, and he reiterated in his weekly news conference Wednesday that he won’t hesitate to make a change at the position if Catron can’t get on track soon. A first-team All-Big South selection after making 10-of-13 field goals in the Chants’ memorable 12-3 campaign last fall, Catron missed on two of his three field goal attempts Saturday night and is now just 5-of-10 this season.... Most of Catron’s struggles this season have come on longer kicks as he’s 1-of-5 on attempts of 40 yards or longer after going 4-of-5 on such kicks a year ago. His two misses against Elon were from 39 and 46 yards while he successfully converted a 29-yarder in between those errant tries.... Third-year sophomore Ryan Granger is the team’s backup kicker and is 3-for-3 on field goals for his collegiate career while exhibiting a strong leg – as evidenced by the 51-yarder he hit earlier this season for the longest field goal in program history – but none of his attempts have come in high-pressure situations." - Myrtle Beach Online
