Franklin Grizzlies Kicker, Punter & Snapper News

August 25, 2014 - summer specialists
"Senior Jake David (Evansville, Ind./F.J. Reitz) returns to handle the long- and short-snapping duties. He has been a vital member of Franklin teams that have captured three HCAC championships and won a NCAA Division III first-round playoff victory each of the last three seasons. 'Football is a team game that takes a complete effort to post a win,' said Head Football Coach Mike Leonard, who enters his 12th season leading the Grizzlies. 'We may have graduated an All-American punter and all-conference kicker, but there are guys eager to come in to make their own mark to help us continue our winning tradition.' Leonard added: 'We are fortunate to have Jake returning as our special teams' snapper. Successful punts and placekicks start with an accurate and quick snap. Jake does those things very well.' Preseason practice has had senior Max Larreur (Fishers, Ind./Fishers), the team's kickoff specialist in 2013, and junior Cody Beeks (Wabash, Ind./Wabash) battling for placekicking responsibilities. Both players have strong and accurate legs. Beeks served as the team's backup punter for graduated All-American Michael Parks last fall. The junior entered preseason practices as the starting punter. Freshman Stephen Colligan (Fort Wayne, Ind./Fort Wayne Dwenger) adds depth to the punting and placekicking duties." - Grizzlies
