Susquehanna Crusaders Kicker, Punter & Snapper News

October 18, 2014 - Spencer Hotaling kicks game winner over Moravian
"In the epitome of a back-and-forth battle, the Susquehanna football team came out on top of Moravian 24-21 in Bethlehem. Senior Pre-Season All-American Spencer Hotaling (Selinsgrove, Pa./Selinsgrove Area) knocked a 40-yard field goal with 19 seconds to play to ultimately win the game for the Crusaders as they picked up their first win of the season. The teams literally traded scores for the duration of the game, with Hotaling's field goal marking the final points of the game." - Crusaders

August 9, 2014 - kicker Spencer Hotaling
"Hotaling has emerged as one the top offensive weapons in the conference. Last year, he led the Crusaders with 49 points, converting eight of 10 field goals and 25 of 27 PAT’s. That success has allowed Hotaling — a three-time first-team all-conference selection as well as a USA College Football Division III First-Team Preseason All-American this season — to emerge as a team leader. 'He’s not your average kicker,' head coach Steve Briggs said. 'Spencer’s success rubs off on the other players.' Briggs calls Hotaling, a graduate of Selinsgrove High School, a natural leader. The coach said he watched the player grow up competing on local baseball and football fields. 'Spencer has special skills,' Briggs said. 'He’s not your typical kicker. He’s an athlete who can do everything.' According to Hotaling, he has earned the respect of his teammates by working hard at kicking as well as pitching for the Crusaders’ baseball team. 'They see the success I’ve had with both teams,' he said. 'I’m trying to be a good role model.' Hotaling, who said he feels 'completely comfortable' kicking from 43 yards and in, believes he can be effective from as far as 50 yards away. This year Hotaling will also handle the team’s punting duties. He said there are enough hours in the day to practice both tasks." - The Daily Item
