March 26, 2015 - long snapper Patrick Rhew signs
"Rhew wasn’t expecting a move south to come out of that meeting. In fact, he had been convinced he’d end up at LaGrange College alongside Slade, who will compete for a spot as a quarterback, because the school was offering Rhew a starting spot on its Division III team. He also fielded an offer from the University of West Georgia. But when Valdosta State, a Division II program that has celebrated two National Championships under Head Coach David Dean, came knocking with an opportunity to earn a spot on the team and also get the chance to take snaps as a starter, Rhew couldn’t say no. It will not be easy for Rhew to beat out the Blazers’ starting long snapper, but if he does, he’ll earn more scholarship money." - Henry Daily Herald

November 29, 2014 - Anthony Pistelli kicks game winner over Lenoir-Rhyne
"The Valdosta State Football Team (10-2) took advantage of five turnovers to upset No. 3 Lenoir-Rhyne (11-1), 23-21, Saturday in the Second Round of the NCAA Division II Playoffs at Moretz Stadium.... The Blazers’ placekicker – Anthony Pistelli (Thomasville, Ga.) – also kicked three field goals including the game-winner from 45 yards out for a 16-14 advantage with 12:15 left." - Bears

November 22, 2014 - Anthony Pistelli kicks four field goals, including game winner over North Alabama
"Valdosta State established a new school record for rushing yardage and Anthony Pistelli kicked four field goals as the Blazers defeated North Alabama 33-31 in the first round of the NCAA Division II Playoffs Saturday afternoon at Braly Stadium.... Wingo's third touchdown pass of the game put UNA back in front by four points before Pistelli kicked a career-best 52-yard field goal on the second play of the fourth quarter to pull VSU back to within a point. Taylor Pontius scored UNA's final points on a 27-yard field with 12:31 to go in the game while Pistelli added kicks of 32 and 18 yards to give the Blazers the victory." - Blazers

August 31, 2014 - QB Jake Medlock the likely punter
"The starting quarterback job is still up in the air at Valdosta State. But one week prior to the season opener against Albany State, senior Jake Medlock is slated to be a Blazer starter regardless of how his competition with Kaleb Nobles goes. In VSU’s final scrimmage of fall camp at the VSU practice fields Saturday morning, Medlock showed off the leg that has him currently slotted as the Blazers’ starting punter. 'I did that last year at FIU too,' he said after booting three punts during the scrimmage that pitted the Blazers fixing to take on Albany State next Saturday against the scout team. 'They knew when I came in that I had punted at FIU. My longest one last year was like 72 or 73, so they knew I could punt. But they didn’t really know until I came in one day and messing around and launched one to the other end. And they told me I was punting.' The former quarterback/punter at Florida International averaged 40 yards per kick Saturday with a long of 42 on his final punt and a 40-yarder that was downed at the 2. 'Yeah, right now he would be our starter,' VSU coach David Dean said. 'That’s not something I necessarily like, and we have a couple other guys that maybe will step up and take that job, but right now he’s our best guy'.” - Valdosta Daily Times
