Czech Republic Men's National Soccer Team News

September 6, 2015 - David Limberský & Vladimír Darida score in win over Latvia
"Latvia 1-2 Czech Republic. Pavel Vrba's team qualified for UEFA EURO 2016, David Limberský and Vladimír Darida scoring their first international goals in Riga.... Latvia struggled to contend with their visitors' movement, as Darida forced an early save from Andris Vaņins prior to Limberský's 13th-minute opener. Milan Škoda showed strength to hold the ball up from a throw-in on the left of the hosts' box, allowing Limberský to take it off him and fire in from an acute angle. Latvia tried to haul themselves level with Artūrs Karašausks going through on goal, but an untimely slip epitomised their poor luck in front of goal in Group A. They went 2-0 behind moments later as Darida received a pass from David Pavelka before taking a touch and striking a fine drive into the top-left corner from outside the area." - UEFA

September 3, 2015 - Milan Škoda scores brace in win over Kazakhstan
"Czech Republic 2-1 Kazakhstan... Winning only his second cap, Milan Škoda scored two headers as the hosts came from behind to post a big win in the race to qualify from Group A. The Czech Republic came from behind to defeat Kazakhstan in UEFA EURO 2016 qualifying Group A, substitute Milan Škoda scoring twice in the final 16 minutes. Yuri Krasnozhan's visitors were on course for their first victory in ten competitive matches until Škoda, making only his second senior appearance for his country, headed in his first goal with a little over a quarter of an hour left. His winner four minutes from time means Pavel Vrba's second-placed side are six points clear of the Netherlands, in third, with three fixtures to play." - UEFA

November 16, 2014 - Pavel Kaderabek scores in 2-1 win over Iceland
"The Czech Republic fought back to overcome Iceland in their Euro 2016 qualifier on Sunday with a Pavel Kaderabek header and an own-goal giving the home side four wins out of four and top spot in Group A. Iceland took the lead in the ninth minute when a long throw-in caught the Czech goalkeeper, Petr Cech, stranded off his line. The Chelsea player punched the ball high into the air before Birkir Bjarnason headed the ball back from the touchline to Ragnar Sigurdsson, who headed into the net. However, the Czechs pulled level in first-half stoppage time when Daniel Pudil latched on to a free-kick and crossed for Kaderabek to head home an equaliser. It was his first international goal and the first Iceland had conceded after three successive wins during their qualifying campaign. The home side then scored a fortunate winner in the 61st minute when Jaroslav Plasil’s cross from the left deflected off the defender Jon Dadi Bodvarsson and then bounced off the leg of the Iceland goalkeeper, Hannes Halldorsson, and flew into the net." - Guardian

October 13, 2014 - Dockal, Lafata, Krejci & Necid score in win over Kazakhstan
"The Czech Republic have maintained their 100% start to Euro 2016 qualifying with a comfortable 4-2 win away to Kazakhstan. Pavel Vrba's team took the lead on 14 minutes when Borek Dockal found the bottom corner with a precise effort from 25 yards. The Czechs then doubled their advantage on the stroke of half time as David Lafata tapped home from close range after Pavel Kaderabek had hooked a cross back into the heart of the Kazakh penalty area. A successful night for the away side got even better with 56 minutes played when Ladislav Krejci volleyed in from Dockal's deep cross to make it 3-0. Kazakhstan pulled a goal back on 84 minutes through Jurij Logvinenko's opportunistic strike, but the Czechs restored their three-goal soon after thanks to substitute Tomas Necid's turn and finish inside the box. Logvinenko scored his second of the match in stoppage time with a header from a corner." - Sports Mole

October 10, 2014 - Tomas Sivok & Borek Dockal score in win over Turkey
"Czech Republic defeated Turkey 2-1 in the UEFA Euro 2016 Group A qualifier match at the Sukru Saracoglu Stadium in Istanbul on Friday. Turkey had taken the lead in the eighth minute of the game, when Galatasaray forward Umut Bulut scored with a header. Fenerbahce's attacking left-back Caner Erkin whipped the cross from left and Umut put the ball in the back of the net, 1-0. Seven minutes later, Besiktas centre-back Tomas Sivok scored the equalizer from Ladislav Krejci's corner. Sivok rose and headed towards the goal, the ball past goalkeeper Tolga Zengin and went in, 1-1.... In the 58th minute, the Czech Republic team scored the leading goal, when Borek Dockal assisted by Pavel Kaderabek finished in the penalty area, 2-1." - Daily Sabah

September 9, 2014 - Dockal & Pilar score in win over Netherlands
"Vaclav Pilar's stoppage-time strike ensured the Czech Republic consigned Netherlands to a shock 2-1 Euro 2016 qualifying defeat in Prague. Substitute Pilar was on hand to apply a simple finish one minute into time added on in the Group A opener at Generali Arena to punish a dreadful mistake from Daryl Janmaat. The Newcastle United defender attempted to cushion a header back to goalkeeper Jasper Cillessen, but hit the post and midfielder Pilar could not believe his luck as he turned the ball in from just a couple of yards out. Lazio defender Stefan de Vrij looked to have ensured Guus Hiddink avoided defeat in his first competitive game since returning for a second spell as coach of his country when he headed home 10 minutes into the second half until a late twist. Borek Dockal put the home side in front with a stunning strike on Tuesday and coach Pavel Vrba was able to mark his maiden competitive match in charge of the Czech Republic by securing his first win as an international coach courtesy of Pilar's last-gasp goal." - Goal
