Denmark Men's National Soccer Team News

June 13, 2015 - Yussuf Poulsen & Jakob Poulsen score in win over Serbia
"Denmark kept themselves within touching distance of Portugal at the top of Euro 2016 qualifying Group I with a 2-0 win over Serbia. An early goal from Yussuf Poulsen and a late strike from substitute Jakob Poulsen proved decisive for the Danes in Copenhagen....  Leipzig's Yussuf Poulsen opened the scoring after 13 minutes as he lashed home his first international goal from a Nicklas Bendtner lay-off. Agger was presented with the chance to double the lead in the 34th minute after Pierre Hojbjerg was fouled by Aleksandar Kolarov but Vladimir Stojkovic saved. Serbia were unable to make the most of the reprieve and Jakob Poulsen settled the contest with a goal on the counter-attack three minutes from time." - ESPN

June 8, 2015 - Christian Eriksen & Viktor Fischer score in win over Montenegro
"Viktor Fischer grabbed a late winner as Denmark came from behind to beat Montenegro 2-1 in their friendly at the Energi Viborg Arena. Manchester City striker Stevan Jovetic handed the visitors a 17th-minute lead before Tottenham's Christian Eriksen levelled matters deep into the second half. Ajax winger Fischer sealed the win with a penalty after 86 minutes as Denmark returned to winning ways following their 2-0 defeat to France in March." - Sky Sports

March 25, 2015 - Nicklas Bendtner scores hat-trick in win over USA
"It was a good night for Premier League misfits at the NRGi Park as Denmark beat the USA thanks to a Nicklas Bendtner hat-trick after Jozy Altidore had opened the scoring for the visitors. On an evening when Tottenham's Christian Eriksen became the youngest Dane to win 50 international caps, Altidore, who could only muster a single goal in the English top flight during an 18-month spell at Sunderland, put the USA ahead after 19 minutes in Aarhus. But the Danes were soon level through former Arsenal forward Bendtner. Aron Johannsson restored Jurgen Klinsmann's side's lead before Bendtner scored twice in the final seven minutes to seal his hat-trick and earn victory for Morten Olsen's side." - Daily Mail

November 14, 2014 - Nicklas Bendtner scores brace in win over Serbia
"Denmark recovered from a goal down to beat Serbia 3-1 away thanks to Nicklas Bendtner's double and a goal from defender Simon Kjaer in their Euro 2016 Group I qualifier in an empty stadium on Friday. Bendtner equalised on the hour and struck again in the 85th minute, with Kjaer having put them in front in the 62nd, after Zoran Tosic gave the hosts the lead four minutes into the match.... The visitors came close twice shortly after the break as Christian Eriksen’s shot shaved the woodwork before Bendtner headed wide of the near post with the goal at his mercy. But former Arsenal striker Bendtner made no mistake on the hour, sweeping home a rebound after Stojkovic could only parry a fierce low shot by Eriksen from 20 metres. Kjaer turned the match on its head barely two minutes later, powering a header into the roof of the net after an inch-perfect Eriksen cross left him unmarked at the far post." - SBS

October 7, 2014 -  roster updates
"Denmark have called up centre-backs Jores Okore and Mattias "Zanka" Jorgensen for Denmark's Euro 2016 qualifier away to shock Group I leaders Albania on Saturday. The Danish FA said on Tuesday that Daniel Agger, Simon Kjaer and Andreas Bjelland were all carrying by minor knocks, prompting coach Morten Olsen to promote Okore from the Under-21 squad and to recall Jorgensen, who last played for his country in 2011. The trio will undergo fitness tests before a decision is taken on whether they will travel to Albania - the only game for which the replacement pair are in the frame." - Yahoo

September 7, 2014 - Hojbjerg & Kahlenberg score in win over Armenia
"Denmark were spared another home embarrassment at the hands of Armenia as goals from Pierre Emile Hojbjerg and Thomas Kahlenberg secured the Scandinavians a come-from-behind 2-1 victory in their Euro 2016 qualifying campaign opener on Sunday. Playing a nation who had pulled off a famous 4-0 victory over them at Parken during World Cup qualifying in 2013, the Danes looked set to be humbled by the Armenians in Copenhagen once again when Borussia Dortmund midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan's strike put the away side 1-0 up in the 50th minute. However, Hojbjerg levelled 15 minutes later with a long-range effort, and with 10 minutes of the contest to go substitute Kahlenberg headed home the winner." - SkySports
