"Substitute Dustin Corea struck deep in stoppage time to give El Salvador (0-2-0, 2 points) a 1-1 draw with Costa Rica (0-2-0, 2 points) in the CONCACAF Gold Cup on Saturday night at BBVA Compass Stadium.... Bryan Ruiz netted his first Gold Cup goal in 10 years to put Costa Rica ahead 1-0 in the 61st minute. The 29-year-old attacker collected a ball lofted into the left side of the box by Alvaro Saborio and headed it forward, before unleashing a left-footed shot that beat goalkeeper Derby Carrillo at the near post from five-yards out.... With time running out, however, El Salvador made another free kick pay off. "With two away goals an a 2-2 aggregate scoreline heading into the match, El Salvador made short work of St. Kitts and Nevis in a 4-1 win that gave them a 6-3 aggregate final for the tie. "El Salvador earned a 2-2 draw against St. Kitts and Nevis in the first leg of their qualifier, and the two away goals from Irving Herrera and Nelson Bonilla give the visitors a leg up in the return match on June 16. "El Salvador today away to beat Nicaragua 2-0 in a friendly match which took advantage of the mistakes of their opponents. El Salvador opened the scoring after 43 minutes through Efrain Burgos, who was unmarked and defined header after receiving a cross from the right side of Arturo Alvarez. The selection is highlighted by the inclusion of a pair of players named to the recently completed Central American Cup’s Best XI: forward Rafael Burgos and midfielder Alexander Larin.  Burgos joined Raul Diaz Arce as the only Salvadorans to score in three straight editions of the competition." - CONCACAF

September 10, 2014 - Burgos & Alvarez score in win over Belize
"Rafael Burgos and Arturo Alvarez struck for second half goals to lift El Salvador to a 2-0 win over Belize in both teams’ final Group A match in the 2014 Central American Cup at BBVA Compass Stadium on Wednesday.... Burgos put El Salvador in front three minutes into the second half after being freed on goal by Alvarez’s through ball.  The Minnesota United forward took two touches on a long run before beating Woodrow West low and inside the near post from 13 yards. In the 69th minute, Alvarez put the game away when he finished a lengthy, ambitious run with a left-footed blast into the upper left corner of the net to give El Salvador a 2-0 lead." - CONCACAF

September 7, 2014 - Richard Menjivar scores in win over Honduras
"Richard Menjivar struck off a brilliant individual effort midway through the second half as El Salvador earned a 1-0 victory over Honduras in the Central American Cup on Sunday at the Cotton Bowl.... In a spirited encounter, it took an instant of brilliance from Menjivar to settle matters.  The San Antonio Scorpions midfielder dribbled into the right side of the box, drew a defender towards him and cut left.  With the target in sight, he fired a low, left-footed shot from 17-yards out inside the left post beyond diving goalkeeper Kevin Hernandez to give El Salvador a 67th minute lead." - CONCACAF

August 30, 2014 -Larin & Ceren score in win over Dominican Republic
"El Salvador completed its domestic preparations for the upcoming Central American Cup with a 2-0 win over the Dominican Republic on Saturday at the Estadio Cuscatlan. The Salvadorans, playing their first home match in nearly two years, defeated the Caribbean side for the third time in three all-time meetings.  Alexander Larin struck for the first goal in the 25th minute, receiving a picture-perfect pass from Efrain Burgos behind the defense and finding the back of the net with a left-footed shot. In the 47th minute, Oscar Ceren put away a rebound to complete the scoreline after Jonathan Aguila’s initial attempt bounced off the Dominican goalkeeper." - CONCACAF
