Montenegro Men's National Soccer Team News

September 8, 2015 - Stefan Savić & Fatos Bećiraj score in win over Moldova
"Montenegro kept their hopes of reaching UEFA EURO 2016 alive with a hard-earned 2-0 triumph against Moldova in Chisinau.... The visitors started brightly, with skipper Stevan Jovetić pulling the strings in the centre and Stefan Savić lively on the right of midfield, and it was no surprise when the duo combined to put Brnović's side ahead in the ninth minute. Latching onto a half-cleared corner, Jovetić bought himself space before whipping in a cross-cum-shot that might have had the beating of Ilie Cebanu in the Moldova goal, but Savić – darting in at the far post – had the presence of mind to stick out a boot and make certain.... That remained the pattern after the resumption, yet regardless of Moldova's good work it was Montenegro who carried the greater attacking threat and they doubled their advantage in the 65th minute. A searching ball enabled Fatos Bećiraj to muscle his way into the box past Igor Armaş and fire in a shot which took a wicked deflection off Racu to wrong-foot Cebanu and seal the points for Montenegro." - UEFA

September 5, 2015 - Fatos Bećiraj & Stevan Jovetić score in win over Liechtenstein
"Montenegro 2-0 Liechtenstein. Montenegro kept their UEFA EURO 2016 qualifying hopes alive with a 2-0 Group G win against Liechtenstein in Podgorica, Fatos Bećiraj and Stevan Jovetić the men on target.... Bećiraj eventually opened the scoring in the 38th minute, set up by a Jovetić cross. The Dinamo Minsk player logged his first goal of qualifying with a volleyed strike that bounced into the back of the net past goalkeeper Peter Jehle. Bećiraj returned the favour in the 56th minute, creating Jovetić's goal by sprinting down the left before sending a low cross to the edge of the area. The Internazionale Milano attacker controlled the pass and placed his shot low into the corner." - UEFA

September 8, 2014 - Vucinic & Tomasevic score in win over Moldova
"Montenegro edged out their Group G rivals Moldova with a 2-0 win at the Stadion Pod Goricom in their Euro 2016 qualifier this evening. Mirko Vucinic nodded home from a corner to put his side ahead on the stroke of half-time after a frustrating first 45 minutes for the hosts in which they failed to take their chances. However, Vucinic was then booked for simulation after going down in the box under the challenge of Alexandru Epureanu on the hour mark. Zarko Tomasevic doubled his side's lead when he converted Nemanja Nikolic's low cross at the back post on 73 minutes." - Sports Mole
