Rocky Mountain Battlin' Bears Kicker, Punter & Snapper News

September 5, 2014 - kicker/punter Ryan Steska
"Besides kicking off and punting, Steska's right leg is also called upon for point-after and field-goal attempts. Last fall, during his first season at Rocky, he was one of the most decorated special teams players in the  Frontier Conference. Three times during a four-week stretch, the transfer from Saddleback College in California was chosen as the Frontier's special teams player of the week. By season's end, Steska was also a first team all-conference selection as a kicker. 'I'm happy to do my job,' he said. 'That's what I'm here to do.' The 5-foot-9, 210-pound Steska’s job this fall will be to keep performing at a high level. The soccer-style kicker has already received preseason All-America recognition in the NAIA ranks. 'He was a pretty solid guy for us last year,' Rocky coach Brian Armstrong said. 'He's a guy that I thought really got better as the year went on. Hopefully he'll be able to pick up where he left off last fall.' Steska definitely came out kicking last Saturday on a windy afternoon at Dickinson State, booting two field goals, four PATs and averaging 37 yards on seven punts during the Bears’ season-opening 40-21 victory. He even recovered a fumble on one of his kickoffs, leading to one of Rocky's touchdowns." - Billings Gazette
