Illinois Wesleyan Titans Kicker, Punter & Snapper News

October 29, 2014 - punter Matt Kussmann
"The Tri-Valley High School graduate is ranked No. 1 nationally in NCAA Division III punting statistics with a 45.4 average, a whopping 1.1 yards ahead of Wisconsin-Oshkosh's Nate Ray. 'He has a big-time leg. It's very explosive, and when he hits that ball correctly the ball just flies off his foot,' said IWU coach Norm Eash. 'He's come up with some big punts for us this year.' One of those was a 73-yard punt in the fourth quarter during last Saturday's home game against Elmhurst. That was the second longest punt in IWU history behind a 75-yarder by Bob Lenahan way back in 1938. Yet Kussmann didn't feel like celebrating. He would have preferred a 72-yard effort. 'It was the longest punt of my career, and I came off the field mad because it rolled in the end zone,'” said Kussmann." - Pantagraph
