Taiwan Men's National Soccer Team News

March 17, 2015 - Wang Ruei & Chu En-le score in win over Brunei
"Brunei, ranked 198th by FIFA and the second lowest in Asia, had made Tuesday’s home leg free for fans to attend after defeating Taiwan 1-0 away. But Wang Ruei’s strike in the 37th minute and a goal from Chu En-le just after the break gave Taiwan a 2-0 win and a 2-1 aggregate victory, much to the disappointment of the home crowd in Bandar Seri Begawan." -  The Globe and Mail

October 8, 2014 - roster updates
"An ethnically Taiwanese soccer player who previously played for a professional club in Spain is expected to join Taiwan's national soccer team to represent the country on the international stage, a local soccer association said yesterday. The 25-year-old Yaki Yan (殷亞吉) recently passed a tryout organized by Taiwan's Chinese Taipei Football Association (CTFA) this Monday, the CTFA said.... Yan was born to a Taiwanese father born in Spain, and is therefore eligible to represent Taiwan. According to the CTFA, Yan had played for a professional team in Spain, Cotillo, between 2012 to 2014. He has good command of the game, and his size and skills will be a major boost to Team Taiwan on the global stage, it said. The recruitment of Yan is part of the CTFA's ongoing project to find Taiwanese or ethnic Chinese soccer players overseas to join Team Taiwan....  The CTFA previously recruited Xavier Chen (陳昌源), a Belgium-born Taiwanese soccer player, to Taiwan's team. Xavier Chen made his international debut for Taiwan against Malaysia on July 3, 2011, scoring the winning goal in front of a record-breaking 15,335 fans in Taipei. " -The China Post
