Wesley Wolverines Kicker, Punter & Snapper News

September 13, 2015 - kicker Eric Speidel named NJAC Special Teams Player of the Week
"after contributing to No. 5 Wesley's 44-3 NJAC road win at Frostburg State. In the first NJAC contest of his collegiate career, he was 5-of-6 on extra points while connecting on his only field goal attempt, a 21-yard effort in the third quarter. In addition to his eight points scored, he also averaged 56.8 yards per kickoff on eight attempts in the season-opening win. Speidel currently ranks second in the NJAC in kick scoring (8.0 points per game)." - Wolverines

October 8, 2014 - new kicker Eric Speidel
"Two weeks ago, Wesley 3rd baseman Eric Speidel was serving as a football ballboy, watching the Wolverines kicking game struggle. Saturday, he proved there can be relief in football too. Wesley's special teams were struggling with the point-after-touchdown, either missing, or having blocked, five kicks despite easy victories over Rowan and Southern Virginia. Speidel, whose main role in the Southern Virginia game was making sure the officials had a ball to spot for play after each down, went up to Wesley assistant coach Steve Azzanesi after the game, asking for a chance to kick. 'I had gone out with my roommates a few weeks prior, and we went out and they snapped it and we did a few from the PAT, and then we backed it up to the 45, and I made one from there. I figured if I could do that, I might as well give it a shot and see if I could do it in an organized setting.' After passing a tryout with Azzanesi and Wesley Head Coach Mike Drass, the Wolverines' head coach tapped Speidel and said he would be making the start Saturday against Louisiana College." - WDEL
