October 13, 2014 - punter Chandler Phillips earns weekly SAC honors
"Redshirt freshman punter Chandler Phillips (Lutz, Fla.) is the SAC Special Teams Player of the Week.... Phillips is a first-time recipient.... In only his sixth collegiate game, Phillips booted five punts inside the Catawba 10-yard line Saturday. Three of the five punts occurred in the fourth quarter as Wingate was protecting a one-touchdown lead. His eight punts (for 274 yards) are a career-high.  Two of Phillips' fourth-quarter punts led to Bulldog safeties. Wingate's average field position Saturday was the Wingate 46-yard line. Conversely, Catawba's average field position was the Catawba 26-yard line. His 2014 season statistics ledger includes 25 punts for 889 yards (35.6 yards per punt) with two touchbacks, three fair catches and 10 punts inside the 20. 'Chandler had an outstanding game,' coach Joe Reich says. 'He has worked hard on his coffin-corner kicks…it really paid dividends. Our field position advantage in the game was the game'." - Bulldogs
