Wilmington Quakers Kicker, Punter & Snapper News

November 10, 2014 - kicker/punter Grant Brown earns weekly OAC honors
"Wilmington College football player Grant Brown was named Ohio Athletic Conference Special Teams Player of the Week, the league announced today (November 10, 2014). It's the first time in his career Brown has earned a league honor. 'Grant Brown surely deserves the honor because on Saturday, the wind was a huge factor,' said Wilmington head coach Stacey Hairston. 'It was swirling and gusting pretty big. Both of his field goals, by themselves, were impressive in that wind. But his punting was just outstanding. It didn't matter if Grant was punting into the wind or with the wind, he consistently booted the ball down the field, which in turn helped us out with field position. When we were backed up and had to punt, that is when he had his biggest punts all the while Ohio Northern put a lot of pressure on him.  They, ONU, were trying to block the punt and they pressured Grant with more guys than we could block, but Grant somehow got the ball away before they could get to him. Grant is a very talented kicker/punter and it was good see him have the type of game that we all knew he was capable of.' Brown (Stoutsville, OH/Logan Elm) accounted for seven of Wilmington's 15 points with two field goals and an extra point. Additionally, he averaged 43.6 yards per punt, including a career-long punt of 61 yards." - Quakers
