Winona State Warriors Kicker, Punter & Snapper News

September 14, 2015 - kicker Carter McCauley named NSIC Special Teams Player of the Week
"Thanks to two record-breaking 50+ yard field goals.... McCauley was perfect in a 38-7 win over Minot State, going 3-for-3 on field goals, while making all three PATs and booming three touchbacks. The sophomore from Owatonna, Minn. booted a 53-yard field goal with 10 seconds to go in the first half to set the record for the longest kick in Winona State history, topping the previous mark of 47 yards set by Cullen Fahey in 2008. That record didn't last long, as McCauley topped his effort with a 54-yard field goal in the fourth quarter to break his mark and set the top two longest kicks by Warrior." - Warriors

November 9, 2014 - special teams struggle
Another source of concern was special teams, where WSU had a bad day with punts, kickoffs going out of bounds and another missed field goal. Punter Jeremy Neuman averaged just 29 yards on his five punts, including a 20-yard punt when WSU was pinned deep in its own territory. Carter McCauley also missed a 41-yard field goal. The Warriors are 2 of 9 on field goals this year. 'Special teams were terrible,' coach Tom Sawyer said. 'It’s been biting us all year with our two kickers and now it snuck up on our punter. It just wasn’t a good performance'." - Winona Daily News
