Australia Men's National Rugby Team News

October 3, 2015 - Bernard Foley kicks 4 penalties & 3 conversions in win over England
"England are out of the World Cup after being torn apart by a superb Australia display at a stunned Twickenham. Two converted first-half tries in a virtuoso display from fly-half Bernard Foley and four penalties from his boot brought a richly deserved win on a black night for the men in white. The result means both Australia and Wales are into the quarter-finals.... Wallabies fly-half Bernard Foley has sometimes been criticised for lacking the flair of his rival Quade Cooper, but he ran the show for his side and outshone his opposite number Farrell." - BBC

September 27, 2015 - Quade Cooper misses some kicks in 65-3 win over Uruguay
"Australia ran in 11 tries as they strolled to victory over Uruguay in the biggest win of the World Cup 2015 so far.... Uruguay's sole response was a penalty from stand-off Felipe Berchesi. They were spared a bigger beating by the kicking of Aussie stand-off Quade Cooper who, as well as being shown a yellow card, missed six of his 11 pots at goal." - BBC

September 3, 2015 - Bernard Foley kicks 3 penalties & 2 conversions in win over Fiji
"Australia opened their Rugby World Cup campaign with a workmanlike performance, defeating Fiji by 28-13.... Australia kept to their structures and by half-time had run up a 18-3 lead, including two tries from driving mauls through No. 8, David Pocock. Flyhalf Bernard Foley converted one and added two further penalties.... A Foley penalty in the 69th minute extended his sides lead to 28-13 but neither team troubled the scoreboard from then on." - Sport24

August 12, 2015 - Quade Cooper to start at no. 10 vs. All Blacks
"Quade Cooper will start at flyhalf with Nic White as scrumhalf in a reconfigured halves combination among six changes to the Wallabies team to face New Zealand in the second Bledisloe Cup match at Eden Park on Saturday. Cooper replaces Bernard Foley at No. 10 in the lineup named Thursday, while White comes in at the expense of Nick Phipps after impressing as a substitute in last week's 27-19 win over the All Blacks in Sydney." - Yahoo

July 22, 2015 - Bernard Foley back at flyhalf
"Australia coach Michael Cheika has made seven changes to his team for this weekend’s test against Argentina, bringing Bernard Foley back at flyhalf and giving David Pocock the start at openside flanker.... Foley, who started 12 of Australia’s 14 Tests last season but was dropped for Brisbane, regains the No10 shirt from Quade Cooper, who had a patchy outing against the Springboks." - Guardian

July 17, 2015 - Will Genia and Quade Cooper expected to kick against Boks
"There is something old, something new, something borrowed and something blue about Michael Cheika's Wallabies squad to play the Springboks on Saturday night at Suncorp Stadium, Brisbane. Last year's halves combination of Bernard Foley and Nick Phipps has been dropped (with Foley out of the play-on squad of 23) for the 2011 World Cup starters, Will Genia and Quade Cooper. Cheika knows what the Phipps-Foley combination can give him, presumably. He needs to see if a Genia-Cooper combination has more to offer the Wallabies, after Cooper's return from injuries and Genia's run of mediocre form. This old combination will have to work with the borrowed (from Toulon) Matt Giteau, at inside centre. Presumably Giteau and Cooper will share the kicking duties." - Sydney Morning Herald

January 23, 2025 - injured Quade Cooper sidelined for three months
"Quade Cooper will be out of action for three months after fracturing a collarbone during training. The 26-year-old fly-half, who will now miss the start of the Super Rugby season with Queensland Reds, is to have surgery on Tuesday.... Cooper, who joined Reds eight years ago, has made more than 50 international appearances for Australia and will be hoping to be fit for this year's World Cup in the northern hemisphere." - SkySports
