July 11, 2015 - Shelina Zadorsky & Janine Beckie score braces in win over Ecuador
"Canada opened the defence of its Pan Am Games women's soccer title with a convincing 5-2 win over underdog Ecuador Saturday night at CIBC Hamilton Pan Am Soccer Stadium.... Defender Shelina Zadorsky scored late in the first half and early in the second to distance Canada from a 1-1 draw. She also made two or three excellent defensive plays along the left side of the Canadian back line. The 23-year-old from London played professionally in Australia before moving to the Swedish pro league. She was capped by the senior team for a game in early 2013, but hasn't returned to them since then. "Josee Belanger’s first goal in five years here Sunday night earned Canada a place in the quarter-finals of the Women’s World Cup. The Coaticook, Que. native, who had played at right back in Canada’s first three games while Rhian Wilkinson and Marie-Eve Nault nursed injuries, drove a ball laid off by captain Christine Sinclair into the bottom corner of Swiss goalkeeper Gaelle Thalmann’s net in the do-or-die round of 16 match at BC Place. The 52nd-minute strike was the decisive factor between two evenly matched teams." - Toronto Star

May 29, 2015 - Sophie Schmidt scores in win over England
Playing against England, a team they’d lost to four times previously, Canada looked as sharp and as composed as they ever have in a confident 1:0 win on Friday night at Tim Hortons Field in Hamilton, Ont. Sophie Schmidt scored the game’s only goal, her 16th for Canada, as she’s proved that her increased scoring is not fluke and she looks to nicely complement the attack already provided by Christine Sinclair. The goal was her first of 2015 after scoring six in 2014." - Canada Soccer
