St Kilda FC Saints Kicking News

July 5, 2015 - Josh Bruce kicks five goals in win over Essendon
"St Kilda has put together the best win of Alan Richardson's coaching career, with its 110-point demolition of Essendon at Etihad Stadium on Sunday raising questions about James Hird's tenure with the Bombers. The brilliance of the Saints' fifth win for the season could easily be lost in the rapid fall of the Bombers, who barely fired a shot in captain Jobe Watson's 200th game to eventually lose 25.12 (162) to 8.4 (52).... The Saints had winners all over the ground, with Josh Bruce kicking five goals, veteran Leigh Montagna adding cream to the midfield with 31 possessions and two goals, and big man Billy Longer (35 hit-outs) taking the points in the ruck." - AFL

June 14, 2015 - Leigh Montagna kicks game winner over Melbourne
"St Kilda has inflicted more heartbreak on Melbourne, with a dramatic two-point loss on Sunday continuing the Dees’ painful history at Etihad Stadium. With the scores tied at three-quarter time, both sides endured an error-prone final term before a Leigh Montagna goal with 24 seconds remaining sealed a 12.13 (85) to 12.11 (83) win. Remarkably the first 19 minutes of the final quarter saw only five behinds scored before Jeremy Howe put the Demons four points ahead with 41 seconds remaining. Cue a brilliant Jack Steven centre clearance that ended with Montagna running onto a ball in the goalsquare and consigning the Demons to their 21st consecutive loss at the venue. It also marked their 11th loss in a row to the Saints." - AFL

April 11, 2015 - Josh Bruce kicks six goals in win over Gold Coast
"An outstanding six goal effort from former Giant Josh Bruce has led St Kilda to an impressive first win of the season, the Saints accounting for Gold Coast by 28 points at Metricon Stadium. Bruce left the Suns' defenders looking second-rate all night and was ably supported by Nick Riewoldt and Tim Membrey up forward as St Kilda effectively put the game to bed by half time with an eight-goal second quarter." - AFL

January 19, 2015 - Nick Riewoldt to be inducted as AFL Life Member
"The AFL Commission will induct 13 Life Members for service to the game at the 2015 AGM in March.... Nick Riewoldt (St Kilda) – 281 premiership games, 23 pre-season games, three international games. 2002, 2004, 2006, 2007, 2009, 2014 Best and Fairest. 2008, 2009, 2013, 2014 Leading Goal Kicker. 2004, 2006, 2008, 2009 (Captain), 2014 (Vice-Captain) All Australian. 2005, 2008-14 Club Captain. 2002 AFL Rising Star. 2004 AFLPA MVP." - Triple M
