Arizona Rattlers Kicker News

August 9, 2015 - assigned emergency kicker Alex Zendejas; place Fabrizio Scaccia on IR
"Arizona played without starting kicker Fabrizio Scaccia and was pressed into using emergency kicker Alex Zendejas. Zendejas saw action earlier this season — incidentally against Portland in Week 4 — and struggled mightily. That was not the case this week, as the U of A product consistently hit the nets on kickoffs and connected on all nine of his extra pint attempts. Head coach Kevin Guy was quick to point out after the game it’s the first time his team has been perfect in the kicking all season." - Arizona Sports

July 9, 2015 - kicker Fabrizio Scaccia reactivated

April 18, 2015 - Alex Zendejas kicks after Fabrizio Scaccia injury
"The Rattlers went to their third kicker this week when Fabrizio Scaccia was unable to go due to a pulled muscle. Former Arizona Wildcat kicker Alex Zendejas took his place, going only 5 for 9 on extra point attempts. Zendejas was better on kickoffs, able to kick the ball off the bar or the net on most of his attempts." - Fox Sports

April 15, 2015 - Fabrizio Scaccia signed, Jeremy Shelley released
"Scaccia, who kicked for the Rattlers in 2010 and '11, was assigned to the Arena Football League team on Wednesday after the Rattlers waived kicker Jeremy Shelley, who missed his last three field-goal attempts, having two of them returned for touchdowns. Shelley did not reach the net on any of his kickoffs in last week's victory in Cleveland.... Scaccia made a franchise-record 57-yard field goal against the Utah Blaze in 2011. He left after that year to join the NFL's San Francisco 49ers. Last season, Scaccia kicked for the Jacksonville Sharks, missing all eight of his field-goal tries and making 83 of 106 points-after touchdowns. His best seasons came with the Rattlers in '10 and '11, when he made 170 of 187 extra points and three of 13 field goals." - AZ Central

March 26, 2015 - assigned kicker Jeremy Shelley
"Shelley (5-10, 180, Alabama) was one of 14 kickers who tried out for the Rattlers this offseason after veteran kicker Craig Ratanamorn retired. His accuracy and power impressed head coach and general manager Kevin Guy enough to earn a spot on the team. Shelley, who has also spent time with the Atlanta Falcons and Houston Texans, enjoyed a remarkable collegiate career at the University of Alabama. He participated in three national championship games and finished his career as the fifth-highest scorer in program history." - AFL

April 27, 2014 - Casey Barth kicks for Rattlers
"What started as a tryout for former Hoggard standout kicker Casey Barth turned out to be a whole lot more. Saturday, Barth was in Phoenix for a tryout with the Arizona Rattlers of the Arena Football League. Barth wasn't expecting to hear from the team that day. But later, after the Rattlers kicker suddenly went down with an injury, they asked Barth to stay and kick for the team that night. Barth had a great performance in his first professional game he hit 9 extra points in the Rattlers 69-59 win over San Antonio. He also had 10 kickoffs that totaled 564 yards and four touchbacks." - WECT

April 22, 2014 - Rattlers extra kicking
The Rattlers will emphasize the kicking game this week after missing four extra points in Saturday's 73-69 victory over the Pittsburgh Power. Kicker Craig Ratanamorn had been solid, before Saturday's game. With the four misses, he is now 36-of-43 on points after touchdowns. The Rattlers (5-0) have a new kicker and long-snapper, center Jeff Maddux, this season....  'We were absolutely terrible,' coach Kevin Guy said. 'We'll get it fixed either by technique or by personnel. Our offensive left side didn't protect well at all. We've got to address it. We're not going to make excuses'." - AZ Central
