Draft Preview: Niklas Sade

Among the kickers eligible for this year's NFL draft, or signing as an undrafted free agent thereafter, is North Carolina State's Niklas Sade. He ranks in the top ten in several of the various draft rankings.

2014 Senior Season
  • 74 KO, 63.6 avg, 47 touchbacks
  • East-West Shrine Game: kicked a 51 yard field goal
2013 Junior Season
  • Earned the team's Governor's Award - given to the MVP
  • semifinalist for the Lou Groza Award
  • Posted the second-highest single-season field goal total in school history (19)
  • Named the ACC Specialist of the Week for the Richmond game after kicking the game winning field goal (48 yards)
  • Kicked a career-best four FGs in the win over La Tech - he outscored the entire Bulldog squad, 16-14. Also had four vs. UNC.
  • Named a Lou Groza `Star of the Week' for his performance in the opener
2012 Sophomore Season
  • Hit the game-winning field goal, a 43-yarder, in the victory at Maryland - Named the ACC Specialist of the Week for that performance
  • Nailed a 50-yard field goal in the loss to Miami - a career long
  • Had hit 60 consecutive PATs before missing one at Miami, the third-longest streak in school history
2011 Freshman Season
  • One of just six true freshmen to start at placekicker nationally
  • Scored 13 points in the win over No. 7 Clemson, hitting all four of his PAT attempts and all three of his field goal tries
  • Was 8-for-8 on point-after kicks in the win over Maryland, that mark for PATs tied as the single-game school record.
High School
  • Competed at the 2011 U.S. Army All-American Bowl
  • An all-conference performer as a junior
  • Three-year starter on the varsity squad for coach Jason Dinwiddie
  • Named Cap 8 Conference Special Teams Player of the Year as a senior 
  • Career Stats: 83-85 on extra point, 13-17 on field goals
  • No. 3 kicker nationally by

College Stats:
2014: 12 of 17 (70.6%) FGs; 46 of 48 PATs; 82 points
2013: 19 of 23 (82.6%) FGs; 31 of 31 PATs; 88 points
2012: 13 of 23 (56.5%) FGs; 44 of 46 PATs; 83 points
2011: 11 of 16 (68.8%) FGs; 46 of 48 PATs; 79 points

Back in January, Sade discussed his experience of playing in the annual East-West Shrine Game:
"It was a good experience. We visited the children’s hospital, which was a unique experience that was pretty awesome. Besides that, getting to go out there and competing with guys from other colleges was pretty neat. Talking to scouts every day and getting your face out there was a great experience."
