Draft Preview: Marvin Kloss

Among the kickers eligible for this year's NFL draft, or signing as an undrafted free agent thereafter, is South Florida's Marvin Kloss. He ranks in the top ten in several of the various draft rankings.

2014 Senior Season
  • two of his misses were from 54 yards and from 43 yards into a 20 mph wind
  • named to the American Athletic Conference third team by Phil Steele
  • had a season-long of 47 yards among three field goals vs. Western Carolina (8/30)…
  • Bulls’ all-time career field goal percentage leader hitting 77.5 percent (31-of-40)
  • scored 131 career points to rank fifth among USF place kickers all-time
  • selected to participate in the 2014 East-West Shrine Game
2013 Junior Season
  • One of three finalists for the Lou Groza College Kicker Award becoming USF’s first-ever major college football award finalist
  • named a second team All-American by Athlon Sports
  • named team’s Special Teams MVP after scoring 42 percent (69 points) of USF’s points on the season.
  • led the nation with 11 field goals of 40 yards or more and four of 50-plus yards
  • set a USF record hitting 13 consecutive field goals, including from 52, 50, 50, 50, 49, 49 and 47 yards
  • hit a season-long 52-yard field goal, the third longest in program history, in a win against Cincinnati (10/5) where he scored 14 of the teams 26 points hitting four field goals and two extra points
  • twice named American Conference Special Teams Player of the Week
  • scored all 21 of USF’s offensive points (6-6 on field goals, 3-of-3 PAT) in 2-0 conference start with wins at UConn (10/12) and vs. Cincinnati (10/5)
  • hit from 47 and 44 yards at UConn, making the game-winner from 44 yards with 4:03 to play
  • kicked off 43 times posting 15 touchbacks and 61.8 average
2012 Sophomore Season
  • Handled the kickoff duties in all 12 games ... kicked off 55 times for 3,503 yards (63.7 ypk) ... produced 37 touchbacks ... also posted two tackles.
2011 Freshman Season
  • Handled kickoff duties in all 12 games ... kicked off 71 times for 4,605 yards (64.9 ypk) ... posted nine touchbacks ... also tallied two tackles.
High School (Barron Collier)
  • Ranked as the No. 7 kicker in the nation by ESPN.com
  • was a perfect 8-for-8 on field goal attempts as a senior ...hit a 57-yard field goal
  • went 51-for-51 on extra point attempts as a junior ... missed just one as a senior as he went 41-of-42
  • was the kicking champion at Brandon Kornblue's Kicking Challenge
  • also caught eight passes for 163 yards and two TDs, while rushing for 56 yards on two carries as a senior


College Stats:
2014: 13 of 17 (76.5%) FGs; 23 of 23 PATs; 62 points
2013: 18 of 23 (78.3%) FGs; 15 of 15 PATs; 69 points

Back in January, Kloss discussed being named MVP of the East-West Shrine Game after hitting 4-of-4 field goals to give the East a 19-3 win:
“I didn’t think I was gonna have this type of exposure, just in one game, but I was hoping I would. Just being able to showcase your skills and really show the scouts what you can do and what you can do for their organization has just been great.”
