Portland Thunder Kicker News

July 9, 2015 - kicker Zach Ramirez reactivated
"Ramirez (6-1, 205, Portland State) rejoins the Thunder after spending time in the CFL with the Ottawa Redblacks. The second-year kicker last appeared in the Thunder’s narrow Week 2 loss to the Tampa Bay Storm, hitting 6-of-7 extra point attempts." - AFL

April 28, 2015 - assigned kicker Kevin Goessling
"The former Fresno State man replaces K Michael Braunstein, who was reassigned on Tuesday. Goessling was a mini-camp invitee in 2012 with the Bears, and saw preseason action with the Oakland Raiders in 2014. Kevin was a three-time All-WAC selection at Fresno State playing in 52 games over four years. He is the Bulldogs All-Time Leading Scorer (373 points), and holds school records for highest FG percentage (93.8%), highest combined FG/PAT percentage (98.5%), longest FG made (58 yards). Goessling was also a 2-Time Lou Groza Award Semi-Finalist, and a Sports Illustrated All-American." - Thunder

April 9, 2015 - Michael Braunstein assigned as emergency kicker

April 7, 2015 - kicker Zach Ramirez assigned again
"The Thunder were assigned K Zach Ramirez last Friday after the team reassigned Brady Beeson. Ramirez did play in the Week 2 loss to Tampa Bay, hitting six of seven extra point attempts, and setting up DB Osagie Odiase’s net recovery touchdown with a kickoff that careened off the bar." - ArenaFan

June 12, 2014 - Thunder add kicker Zach Ramirez
"Ramirez (6-1, 205, Portland State), who went by the name Zach Brown while at Portland State, was a First Team All-American kicker as a junior and was on pace to set the Big Sky record for field goals before getting injured in his senior season on a late hit after the first extra point of the season. His 64 career field goals were still enough to set the record at Portland State, where he holds 10 kicking records. Ramirez is not just accurate, but his leg packs power as well, as he accounted for six of Portland State’s 11 field goals of 50-plus yards in school history. In order to make room for Ramirez, the Thunder have reassigned kicker Alex Fambrough." -  AFL

May 22, 2014 - Thunder add kicker Alex Fambrough
"Fambrough (6-5, 220, Bethany) starred at Bethany College, where he broke the school record for field goals in a season with 17, ranking him first in the nation. He was named the KCAC and NAIA Player of the Week for making six field goals in one game against Kansas Wesleyan, tying the NAIA record. In 2011, Fambrough was named KCAC Special Teams Player of the Year, KCAC Place Kicker of the Year and Beyond Sports Network All-American. In 2012, he was invited to the Beyond Sports Network National Kicking Showcase and was a top three finalist. Fambrough finished his career at Bethany second all-time with 33 field goals." - AFL
