Costa Rica Women's National Soccer Team News

June 13, 2015 - Karla Villalobos scores equalizer in draw with South Korea
"Costa Rica snatched a last-gasp 2-2 draw against South Korea in the Women's World Cup on Saturday to keep their dream of a place in the last 16 alive. Karla Villalobos got the equaliser in the final minute of the game to put her side on two points after as many games in Group E.... Teenage forward Melissa Herrera had gotten Costa Rica off the mark on 17 minutes, but the Koreans hit back with two goals. Ji Soyun converted a 21st-minuted penalty after Kwon Hahnul was fouled in the box by Costa Rican midfielder Cristin Granados. Four minutes later Jeon Gaeul gave the Asian side a second." - ten Sport

June 9, 2015 - Raquel Rodriguez scores equalizer in draw with Spain
"Women's World Cup debutants Spain and Costa Rica labored to a 1-1 draw on Tuesday in a dreary Group E opener played in a near empty Montreal Olympic Stadium. There was little to excite the sparse crowd beyond a two-minute span early in the opening half that produced both goals. Midfielder Vicky Losada opened the scoring in the 13th minute to give Spain the early lead before 37th-ranked Costa Rica replied one minute later. Defender Lixy Rodriguez worked the ball down the field before spotting an unmarked Raquel Rodriguez on the edge of the area for the 21-year-old striker to direct her pass into a gaping net for her 25th goal in 38 international appearances." - Reuters
