Namibia Men's National Soccer Team News

June 21, 2015 - Willy Stephanus & Benyamin Nenkavu score in win over Zambia
"The Brave Warriors came from a goal down to beat Zambia 2-1 in their 2016 African Nations Championship (CHAN) preliminary round first leg match played at the Sam Nujoma Stadium on Sunday afternoon. Zambia took the game to the Brave Warriors earlier on and it was not long before they got their goal through the powerful header of striker Winstone Kalengo, heading the ball into the far post from a free kick, with Namibia keeper Charles Uirab helpless.... Stand-in coach Ronnie Kanalelo's pep talk worked wonders right from the restart as the likes of Cosafa Cup heroes Peter Shalulile, Willy Stephanus and Wangu Gome become more purposeful and direct and it was not long before the home supporters were sent into a frenzy of celebrations. Stephanus received the ball on the left and habitually turned inside and unleashed a powerful shot into the roof of the net over the despairing Zambian Keeper Danny Munyao to draw the sides' level.... Moments later, it was Stephanus who again fed overlapping left-back Ananias Gebhardt who sent the ball into Zambia's box. The slippery Keimuine dispossessed a Zambian defender and passed to Benyamin Nenkavu who shrugged off a challenge to put the ball into the back of the net." - Namibian

May 21, 2015 - Deon Hotto scores brace in win over Zimbabwe
"Namibia's Brave Warriors gave a great performance to beat Zimbabwe 4-1 and qualify for the quarterfinals of the Cosafa Cup on Thursday. Goals by Chris Katjiukua and Sadney Urikhob and a brace by man of the match Deon Hotto gave Namibia an emphatic win while Zimbabwe replied with a late penalty by Raphael Manuvire. Playing a fast and expansive game, Namibia took an early lead when defender Chris Katjiukua headed in from a corner after 8m.... Hotto put Namibia 2-0 ahead on 59 minutes when he streaked onto a Itamuna Keimuine cross to tap into an open net. Nine minutes later Hotto struck again with a great goal as he beat the defence and put the ball through Chigova's legs into the net. Zimbabwe struck back with a penalty by Manuvire after a handball by Willem Mwedihanga in the box on 83m, but Sadney Urikhob scored a minute later from the restart to seal an emphatic victory for Namibia." - Namibian

May 19, 2015 - Benson Shilongo scores brace in win over Mauritius
"Namibia got their first win following a 2-0 defeat of Mauritius. Namibia coach Ricardo Mannetti had lamented his side’s finishing in the 0-0 draw against Seychelles on Sunday and so drafted in Botswana-based forward Benson Shilongo into his starting line-up. The striker took just four minutes to get on the score-sheet and settle the Namibian nerves, before adding a second on 66 minutes from the penalty-spot." - Kickoff
