New Orleans VooDoo Kicker News

May 5, 2015 - Garrett Lindholm earns AFL Highlight of the Week
Lindholm (5-8, 190, Tarleton State) connected on a season-long 41-yard game-winning field goal as time expired in New Orleans' 66-63 victory over the Spokane Shock last week. The former AFL Kicker of the Year leads the League with five field goal conversions on the year." - AFL

May 3, 2015 - Garrett Lindholm kicks game winner over Spokane
"Garrett Lindholm's 41-yard field goal as time expired lifted the New Orleans VooDoo (2-4) to an exhilarating 66-63 victory over the Spokane Shock (1-4) on Saturday night. Spokane quarterback Carson Coffman found Rashaad Carter in the corner of the end zone with less than 10 seconds to play, and overtime beckoned after Mike Washington's two-point reception tied the game at 63 with eight seconds left in regulation. VooDoo Brian Reader quickly connected with newcomer Jackie Chambers, bringing the ball to midfield with just one second remaining on the clock. Up stepped Lindholm, and his powerful right-footed drive split the uprights easily, ending New Orleans' four-game losing streak and giving the team its first-ever victory over Spokane. 'After such a bad day kicking field goals, it feels pretty good to get an opportunity to win one at the end,' said Lindholm after being mobbed on the field by teammates." - AFL

July 14, 2014 - kicker Josh Jasper hits winner
"In his first game with the VooDoo, former LSU kicker Josh Jasper hit a 27-yard field goal with 52 seconds remaining to lift the VooDoo to a 36-35 victory over the Sharks. Jacksonville had one final chance to win it but Fabrizio Scaccia missed a 22-yard field goal as time expired to preserve the win for New Orleans. 'It feels great,' Jasper said. 'I didn’t realize how fast this game was, how fast things change. The game starts off fast each half and it slows toward the end of the first half and the end of the game. I’m just glad we got that ball in their on that last kick. It’s tough on their kicker on that last one'.” - Sports NOLA

July 13, 2014 - kicker Josh Jasper back with VooDoo
"The second time around, former LSU kicker Josh Jasper again is preparing to make his debut with the New Orleans VooDoo. Jasper is slated to play for the VooDoo during Monday night’s Arena Football League game at the Jacksonville Sharks. Kickoff at Jacksonville Veterans Memorial Arena is set for 7 p.m., and the game will air on ESPN2. Jasper signed with the VooDoo before the 2014 season but opted instead to head to training camp with the Canadian Football League’s Toronto Argonauts. He was with the Argonauts through the preseason, which ended in late June. Meanwhile, the VooDoo needed a kicker for the final three games of the season. Jasper, who had returned to Baton Rouge, was available." - New Orleans Advocate

April 10, 2014 - VooDoo assigned kicker Stefan Demos
"Demos (5-9, 205, Northwestern) is in his third season in the AFL and his first with the VooDoo. Demos kicked against the VooDoo last week as a member of the Orlando Predators. In his lone game with the Predators, Demos converted on 7-of-8 PAT tries. He spent his previous two AFL seasons with the San Antonio Talons, connecting on 121-of-139 extra points and 5-of-8 field goals as a rookie in 2012 and 90-of-102 PAT attempts and 2-of-9 field goals in 18 games with the team last season. The third-year pro replaces rookie kicker Taylor Russolino on the roster, who was placed on Injured Reserve on Wednesday." - AFL
